Memorable games when The Hump was totally electric (that I attended)

One I won't forget was back in 1979 (when I was in school). State was playing a ranked Kentucky team. Close game the whole way. State rebounds a missed free throw with 6 minutes left and a tied game. State goes into a 6 minute stall. No shots, no changes of possession, don't recall any time...

How many "divided house" do we have here?

My wife (and son) graduated from Bama. After we got married we discovered that we both were at the 6-3 Alabama-MSU game in 1980, about a year before we met. For most of our marriage we had season tickets to both Alabama and MSU and on some weekends we made both games. Only game we never go to...

    40 unanswered vs. Auburn

Admittedly not an SEC team, but MSU played Florida State in Starkville in 1978. FSU was ranked 15 coming in to the game (Bowden's 3rd season). MSU scored the first 14 points, but FSU added three quick scores to take a 21-14 lead at the half. In the second half, MSU outscored FSU 41-6 to win...

    Sports/Wedding Conflict Stories

Since my wife and I got married in Birmingham and most attendees would be from Alabama, we picked the only November date when Alabama and Auburn were playing out of state. Unfortunately, it turned out to be the date of the Egg Bowl in Jackson. For me and several of my groomsmen, that was a...

    Well, I did it

Congratulations. I passed the PE in Alabama back in 1984 and I'm getting close to closing out a rewarding 41 year career. Glad we will continue to have MSU represented. FWIW, I sealed very few drawings back in the early years, but having a PE was essential for advancement.

    Covid-19 SPS death check-in

I didn't have any problem with your question. Death is inevitable. When you are 87 and in the later stages of Alzheimers it becomes a likelihood. It was highly likely that Mom was going to pass away this year of some age related issue, it just happened to be Covid. Her quality of life was...

    OT: Homebuilding Tips/Wishes

Lots of good info here. I won't repeat it other than to say you have to change your perspective if you plan to grow old in the house your are building. Look at what older people need and at least allow for the contingency later. A few minor additions: We added a pantry/back kitchen off the...

2 former MSU football coaches makes ESPN's Top 150 CFB coaches of all time...

...and #65 Bernie Bierman. Who not only coached MSU football in 1925 and 1926, but also was head coach of MSU basketball for 1926 and 1927. Made his real mark at Minnesota where he led them to undefeated seasons in 1940 and 1941 with the #1 ranking in the AP poll both years. Of course, I...
