    I’ve found that there’s a lot of good, traditional values still out there once you step outside the big population centers.     Maybe I’m in the minority but I could give a hoot about commits these days. Maybe 1 or 2 contribute this year, and it’s unlikely to be meaningful. A bunch of the kids won’t pan out, will transfer, etc. I don’t know why anyone would spend so much money on a kid just to have him be on the roster...

    You cannot ignore recruiting, but given that ~1/3 of all NCAA football players are in the portal right now, it’s so much less important than it used to be. Having a recruiting cycle like this year isn’t ideal, but I don’t know why some folks are freaking out like the portal doesn’t exist.
