    Why Lonergan Passed

As someone who's built roots in a community and has raised a family in the same small city for the last decade or so, I can tell you that it's REALLY hard to leave. Even when there's more money on the table and a better job opportunity, it's tough to say "Hey, let's just pack up and leave."...

    Eddie Jordan MUST be fired

Everyone who is comparing the first three years of the Eddie Jordan era to the first three years of the Greg Schiano era are entirely on crack. By year three it was clear Schiano was making progress at Rutgers. After three years of the Eddie Jordan era we have gotten progressively worse. I...

Little Ricky's Gophers up 4 on Terps with under 6 to go

Minnesota is 7-18, but has been competitive in pretty much every B1G game. We've been competitive in, what, 3 or 4 at most? They're going to smoke us.

On The Banks Article: You want patience Eddie?

This is a results-oriented business. I think it's reasonable after year three - when history is littered with programs that progress quickly - to wonder why we're in the position we're in. If it wasn't for the injuries this would be an absolute slam dunk that Jordan should be gone at the end...

Drop the Word "Verbal Committent" from our Vocabulary

I'd just like to see an early signing period for football - if kids want to commit before the start of their senior season and colleges are willing to buy off on that, then so be it. It wouldn't be that dissimilar to what they already do for basketball.

    Something to keep in mind...

Midwestern recruiting is weird. The level of ball out here is pretty good and there are clearly D-1 caliber players, but it's harder to get recruited out to big-time programs. While a lot of their success is based on finding sleeper 2 and 3-star kids, a lot more of it is finding the diamonds...

Kelvin Harmon picks NC State, why?

I've been down to the Raleigh/Durham area a couple of times for work. When I was there, I could absolutely see the appeal to someone from out-of-state. The NC State campus itself is actually pretty nice - you get the big college feel and proximity to a good-sized city without it being...

Rutgers 2-star recruits who played in the NFL

I think Ash gets a pass for this entire recruiting season. He came into a tough situation. That being said, there is absolutely a long-term correlation between recruiting rankings and on-field performance. While you can catch lightning in a bottle with certain players or even a lower-ranked...

    Politi article - Link included

We're just not good at basketball right now. Eddie Jordan seems like he's been behaving above board (which is faint praise) but he's clearly not the right guy to coach this program. Although I will take exception to the idea that we haven't seen a program more hopeless than Rutgers men's...

This is what rebuilding looks like

I said it before Flood was fired - this is something of a teardown and rebuild job. We're ahead of where we were at the end of the Terry Shea era, but we're significantly behind the majority of our conference. I hope that Ash gets four years, because I really believe you're not going to see...

A New, Improved Steve at NJ.Com?

I think the media bashing that goes on here is absolutely over-the-top. Every time there's a negative story about Rutgers we get dozens of posts claiming some kind of conspiracy to take the school down or other such nonsense.

    Jordan

Exactly. Other teams suffer through injuries and survive - or at the very least not lose by 50 points at home. If you can't keep people here and/or coach the talent you have to be modestly competitive, that's an indictment of the coaching staff.

    OT: Rutgers 57 - Purdue 107

Having no depth is an indictment of the coaching staff. And it isn't exactly like a mostly healthy roster was blowing people away.

The curious case of Ted Fields

This is true from experience with an acquaintance whose daughter ran track an Ivy League school (she since left the team). I know that her grades and SAT's were very good, but not outstanding. But those grades combined with being one of the better distance runners in her state got her in...
