It's possible to be successful with a lower budget but I don't think it's possible with Sha's coaching/roster construction philosophy.

The biggest overachiver in the conference this year is

Based on this tweet seems like $6M was bare bones minimum needed to field roster last off cycle. Insane.

That makes sense SEC schools offered that because based on reports that would be market value for a player of his caliber (which was basis for my post).

The biggest overachiver in the conference this year is

At the practice facility ribbon cutting ceremony one of our coaches told me schools are spending $14M in nil. At the time I shrugged it off as an excuse/false sense of reality because reports were most schools were in that $8M range. Fast forward to today and I think he was spot on. I’ve heard...

The biggest overachiver in the conference this year is

Well the reason I think those quoted numbers make sense is for a couple reasons. 1. a few weeks ago Rick Pitino suggested that BigEast schools should be spending a *minimum* of $9-$11M on payroll. If you’re suggesting that’s the *floor* it’s reasonable to assume you’re spending materially more...

The biggest overachiver in the conference this year is

Numbers I quoted were told to me by our athletic dept. nova 12, St. John’s 16.

I don't want this to sound like sour grapes, but it's important to put things into context. Nova spent $12M on this roster (per our Athletic Dept). Congratulations to Willard and Nova on a successful season, but your payroll is roughly double most the competition. This isn't rocket science -...

    OT: Miami (OH) AD

I will preface this by saying I would rather see Miami of Ohio in the field over another 8-12 high major team, but they didn't make a legitimate effort to build a resume. They scheduled three D2 opponents in their OOC. Their overall SOS overall is ~300. Are they legit? Maybe, but we will never...

Life in the SEC isn't easy, but this is a nice reminder it's not just a spending contest. Auburn has one of the highest NIL budgets in the sport. You need money to succeed at this level, but money alone isn't enough.

He almost came to SHU to play for PJ

Randy Foye went on record he was committing to where ever Hill was. He wasn’t committing g to the school, he committed to the coach.

    Realistic Chance to Dance

22-9 (12-8) with a top 45ish NET would be difficult to keep out. Especially if Butler, PC and Creighton can win a couple games to finish top 75. Look at the teams that are in above us...all these teams have warts on their resume.

    Scoring Output

When I say I don’t know for certain I’m meaning he hasn’t personally disclosed his salary to me, but we can pretty easily ballpark his comp based on what we know. We know we paid “close to 6M” for this roster per the athletic department. We know that Payne and Clark were two highest paid...

I don't know for certain but my understanding that is essentially minimum wage for high major D1.

    Recruiting For Offense

This is what I hinted out earlier in the week. When you don't operate on a meritocracy and play/start your best players good luck retaining your younger guys.

    Scoring Output

I don't blame Sha for players missing shots, but I do blame Sha for his roster management/NIL allocation. Instead of paying 13 guys he should have allocated all funds to 10 guys. It's not ideal but when you have a bottom tier budget it's necessary. Instead of paying Pat Suemnick $250K you...
