    About time for this...

Alright, I’ll play. Yes, I’m a cop, 28 years of LA County Law Enforcement. I started wrestling in Jr. High and my HS coach wrestled collegiately at Cal State Fullerton. Iowa was dominating at the time (early 90’s) and my coach told us a lot of Gable-isms to motivate us. One in particular...

If you’re a believer in styles make fights, this is a good one. JW is probably the better technical wrestler, more experienced and the better athlete. ME is physically stronger, doesn’t gas, snd has a lot of grit. Could be a good one

    157 next year

Ryder Block certainly has the build for 157 (he’s listed at 5’11”), anything else in the portal at 149?

    157 next year

I believe Catrabone is at 157 and Zepeda said he’ll be at 149.

What are we thinking? Ryder Block bumps up? Estrada? Voinovich? Someone else from the portal?

    Iowa lands Ryan Crookham

I suppose it depends on folk’s personal definition of sh*thole. 2025-26 US News and World report lists it as the 25th most dangerous city to live in. Minneapolis is ranked just below Milwaukee. It fluctuates from year to year, but it typically ends up in the top 50. FWIW no Iowa cities land...

FWIW the Merrill brothers didn’t wrestle at the same high school. One was at Gilroy (Cody now at Okie St) the younger(Coby now an Iowa St commit) wrestled at JW North HS in Riverside. I believe he went to Gilroy his freshman and sophomore years, but went to North for his Jr and Sr seasons...

2 seed. The seeding was pretty bad. Arujau had only two losses and he was seeded behind Orine (5 losses), Shawver (7 losses) and Ragusin (4 losses). Arujau probably should’ve had the 3 seed. Moot point as he dominated Crookham in the semis.

    Iowa lands Ryan Crookham

Crookham has obviously shown that he can compete and win at high level evidenced by his 3rd place finish at the 2024 NCAA tournament. He was 28-2 that year and came in as the number 2 seed losing to the eventual champion Vito Arujau in the semis. Other than the injury concerns that have been...

He went 2-2 losing in the blood round to Paddy Gallagher from tOSU who finished 8th. Parco looked great in his upsets over UNI’s Ryder Downey and the Nebby kid. He was wrestling up a couple weight classes and it takes a special kind of toughness to go up two weight classes and still end up on...

I love Miggie’s toughness and fight, but he seems destined to be a guy that loses close match after close match to the top guys. His senior year at the State Tournament he lost to Laird Root , who now wrestles at North Carolina. Root went 0-2 at the NCAA tournament. He also lost to EJ Parco...
