New NIL rules (Edited to summarize the lawyer-ese)

Always goes back to Enforcement of the Rules and degree of pain of the punishment if caught. All it takes is 1 kid to blab about found cash in his McDonalds luncheon bag during a recruiting visit and if the investigation is quick and punishment is severe enough, other schools will think twice...

Imagine: SEC vs BigTen and ACC vs Big12. Entire conferences squaring off in the early weeks of the season with real matchups with real implications

You think? I think the Big Ten has been the better football conference the last 2 seasons and many SEC fans realize this. During 2024 Bowl season the Big Ten went 5-1 against the SEC head-to-head, including 2 playoff victories. Some SEC fans will hang their hat on claiming the SEC has better...

Hypothetical—If Rutgers Had Joined the ACC

Exactly. In theory larger market size = more people = more fans of the school(s) that reside directly in the market, however, market penetration is much more important than market size. For example, who is the network/streaming service going to pay for - Oregon/LSU (very small TV market sizes)...

Hypothetical—If Rutgers Had Joined the ACC

Yes. In addition, I'm responding to the question of why the Big Ten would want us and not the ACC as if we offered the same to both conferences. As stated in 2012 these conferences operated under different revenue models. The Big Ten was able to monetize Rutgers by selling in-region cable boxes...

Hypothetical—If Rutgers Had Joined the ACC

So I politely disagree. What drove expansion 10-15 years ago has changed and we live in a different world. One of the major reasons Rutgers was so attractive to the Big Ten back in 2012 was sheer number of households and cable boxes in the NYC/NJ DMA due to the BTN subscription model. Rutgers...

OT: NY Mets 2025 Season Thread

I do as well. When I go to 3rd I tend to eat at Tommy Bahamas as I love their Cocunut Shrimp, Steak Tacos and Pina Colada Cake. Ridgway Grill is great and uses the nearby Tony’s Bakery for bread and desserts. I also sometimes stop at Badass Coffee to bring home my fix.

OT: NY Mets 2025 Season Thread

When I have guests visit or for special occasions I take them to 5th or 3rd. I do find 5th to be over priced with many average restaurants not worth the cost. Can’t go wrong with Del Mar except for the check. I also really enjoy Chops for a good steak however the bill is outrageous as well...

OT: NY Mets 2025 Season Thread

Mets will be traveling to the gulf coast, Fort Myers, on March 2 to play the Red Sox. Plan on driving from my home in Naples to watch the Mets game.

    Lots of needless negativity here

For the regular season taking into account the number of injuries which was way more than typical for any team, thought Rutgers met expectations. At one point, Team was 4-4 and season was spiraling out of control. Rutgers was able to have a successful November and right the ship. If the team was...

    Backlash has begun

Another excellent article. Unfortunately this past weekend had more to do about the false narrative that ESPN created than the actual football played on the field. Committee got the 12 best teams right and Tennessee getting demolished to a Big Ten school blew apart any counter arguments...

    Backlash has begun

Add Alabama/SEC shill Greg McElroy and Syracuse grad Sean Mcdonugh to your list for setting the narrative on Friday night on Indiana not belonging and then bad mouthing the Big Ten stating they didn't deserve more teams than ACC and rest of Conferences due to limited championships since 2002...

    Current Bowl Possibilities

Maybe that somebody can provide proof of the waivers. The document I linked was published for 2024-2025 bowl selection and continues to support the No Repeat clauses. We'll find out on Sunday.

    Current Bowl Possibilities

Thanks. Hawkeye sports site updated the document to reflect 2024-2025 bowl selections (attached in my above post) and the document continues to reference the No Repeat clauses. I tried finding evidence that the Conference may have amended the Bowl contracts however, found no proof.

I'll provide the link again for Big Ten Bowl selections of which references the No Repeat clauses in the non-CFP bowl contracts. https://storage.googleapis.com/hawkeyesports-com/2024/11/1fe0c5b5-2024-25-big-ten-bowl-overview-.pdf

    Current Bowl Possibilities

We'll find out on Tuesday night. Believe that the Coaches and AP Polls got it pretty much correct and if that's the case Indiana sneaks in. 1 loss to what will be a Playoff team and everybody else they dominated. It's the SEC that's weakened this year and their 4th place teams all with 3 losses...
