    National Duals Retrospective

    I loved watching the National Duals, and part of me wished PSU was there. But the #1 priority for the kids remains NCAA, world and Olympic titles, and wrestling remains 90% an individual sport. As much as us fans would like to to be a team sport, it’s just not.

    I really thought that if PJ could get through this year without a loss he had a chance to have an undefeated, 4 championship career. Once again I am reminded just how amazing Cael’s accomplishments are.

    Who impressed you the most? Carvered up edition

    Rocco’s mental discipline over 9 minutes facing Angelo was impressive. Angelo relies on lighting fast attacks after lulling you to sleep on the knee. On at least 2 occasions Rocco was ready for it and wasnt asleep - and fought it off. Impressive stuff.

    Luke hasn’t been himself. SVN could struggle with Block’s length. Blaze and Duke could get carver’d. Mikey could finally get over the hump. Davis and Bailey should be close. But in reality AJ and BK are the only ones likely to win. 8-2 PSU.

    Ludington was a disappointment, Keuter’s activity was atrocious, why no Peterson against Rivera?, Ayala loss was brutal, Block was disappointing, having to rely on Petersen at 141 is sad, Jordan Williams was uninspiring and even PK riding out the third instead of going for the tech is dumbfounding.

    Ayala got a stall call for holding the leg in the air for 15 sec. Then they went to the ground and he continued to hold the leg - with locked hands. 5 sec additional stall call plus 1 for locked hands. Brands challenged and they changed it to an escape and locked hands. +2 either way.

    I loved watching the National Duals but it looked like a real grind for that early in the season. After watching I certainly understood the hesitancy of going - especially with most of the team wrestling so late into the freestyle season. Now, if it was moved to late December or so, I’d think...
