    Get in line at the South Gate if you want to drop a chair at 16 or 12, get there around 5/530AM. Then go to the North Gate shop, line will be long, but pretty efficient. Walk the course as much as you want, find a few groups you want to follow. If it's a marquis group, get 2-3 holes ahead...

    OT: backpacking recommendations

    I highly recommend Clingman's Dome loop in the Smokey Mountains. But if you really want to go out I suggest going to Colorado and hitting the Sangre De Cristo mountain range. Great high lake fishing, some class 1's and class 3's.
