Good for him. Getting experience as the Head Coach is critical. HC, at FBS level, involves so much more than football; recruiting, fund raising, handling the press, school politics....... This lets him gain that experience on UMass' dime. Then, when he's seasoned, he just might be looked upon...
College football is not an easy gig. Just ask Florida State, Stanford, Utah, Kentucky, UCLA, Arizona, Oklahoma State. All have pedigrees that are greater than ours. Yet, none will be going to a bowl.
IMO, Coach addressed it. He had to decide if starters at 80% perform better than backups at 100%. Today, Mascoe, Sanders, and Salaam played much more than I've ever noticed. Only saw Igbinosun on one play. Rogers, not at all. Longerbeam, not as much as usual.
For the stretch of Va Tech, Washington, Nebraska, Wisconsin, that we're in, anybody would have been pleased with a 2-2 split. We have that in our pocket already. I plan to enjoy the game, on Saturday. We've got a good chance to be 3-1, in this stretch.
Bama losing, without class. Second to last play, a D-Lineman kicked the ball. Penalty. Last play, a D-Lineman slapped a Vandy player in the head. As a fan of classy behavior, I'll root against Bama from here on out.
There are 14 P4 teams that are undefeated. Only 4 are currently unranked; Duke, Pitt, Indiana, and RU. Anyone want to bet, that when the rankings are released there will be only two unranked, undefeated, P4 teams? RU, and Duke.
Boise State, at 25, while we didn't even get a vote, makes no sense. Boise is 2-1 with wins over GA Southern, and Portland St. WTF? Is their quality loss, at Oregon, better than our quality WIN at Va Tech?
I've only been a fan since GS1.0. In that time, Louisville has been our only true rival, IMHO. We hurt them. They hurt us. Every game meant something. Might PSU be most hated? Sure, maybe. But, the subject is 'rival'
