The great wrestlers are in a separate category but the recruiting(hs and portal) of very very good wrestlers is a game of chess. Money spent on the wrong guy is money not spent on the right one, also retention of most guys is a combination of money and culture, can’t screw up on either.
Richie said some good names interviewed already, so there is reason for optimism. Donnie has had pretty well documented promotion opportunities including the one he finally took, that should help attract other ambitious coaches.
Love Pike but I don’t see how his brand of basketball would be even remotely attractive to the back to back ncaa champion offensive juggernaut program of UConn. Being an alumni is not the main qualification for the job.
He’s talented, he’s hitting moves against good competition, just not enough strength to pull them off, he’s a high placer in a different conference, if he’s really a 157 lb then even more so, I really don’t know how these guys wrestle up a class in the B1G, competition is just brutal
