    I always get on Kirk in the game threads when he doesn't mix up the play calling on 1st and 2nd downs. Way too often they wind up in bad down and distance with the predictable run on 1st down and repeat on 2nd down. Neither QB is reliable enough to bail them out of those situations at this time...

    No argument there, I thought the 2nd & 3rd series against UMass were beyond awful and put them in a bad spot. And going back to the mesh on that 4th down when straight handoffs were gaining chunks of yardage was totally baffling.

    Maybe go back and read the RT article on Kirk and his offense. There is a lot of pre-snap stuff that the QB has to process to determine if they are passing or running on that play.
