    I said when fall practice started that I not only had no confidence in KF picking the best guy, but I didn't even have confidence in his ability to create a fair competition. And sure enough; in three games Heck got far fewer minutes and no starts.

    I don't know, but if I'm hiring a head coach, the answer to those questions would not be very important to me. IMO, the biggest key would be "did he run another program successfully, even a smaller one"?. The skills required to run a small something are much the same as running a big something...

    It was basically just a lateral move. The AHC part is window dressing. IMO, his resume needed more and this was a bad choice.

    Crushed? How many 4 and 5 stars? What was their rank in the conference and in the country? I didn't see anything close to what I would consider to be a crush.

    Just stop with the HOF crap. Any coach who has one of the worst offenses in college football for nearly a third of his tenure, and even then, had to have that situation corrected by his boss, has eliminated himself from any HOF consideration.

    Working hard is important. High energy is important. But recruiting is sales and lack of skill in that area can not be overcome by hard work and high energy in many situations. We had guys on campus. We needed to close and coudn't.

    That is such a tired phrase-and meaningless. The contention has always been "does that give us the best chance to win, or is that just what the coaches THINK gives us the best chance to win?".
