    “This team has something”

strongly agree. I was just going to post that the defensive line, especially the tackles, could very well be the linchpin to the whole season being mediocre/poor or excellent.

so if right guard is up in the air, that must mean Pieper is the center and right guard is either Myslinski or Winter or Allgeyer?

Actually, that was not Jay Norvell but a voice from up above saying that.

Iowa at #21 in the CBS Preseason Poll

I don't think he is mocking the SEC speed at all. It is perfectly obvious in the still photos posted on this and other forums.

if this were a NFL team, we would be working a trade behind the scenes (some of our TEs and/or RBs for defensive linemen) but, back to the real world.

August camp time, maybe some news tidbits will trickle in

a part of me hopes you are right. It sounds like a pretty solid group, at least based on what I am hearing on this forum. Two returning starters, two guys that seem to get good reviews (Jones and Dotzler) and Winter. I really do not know much about Winter. I presume he has played center all...

can this defense keep the streak going ?

yes, I would say that the #22 ranking is largely due to the respect that KF and Phil Parker and Company have earned in how they reload quite well every year. I mean, with so few returning starters, how else could they rank us so high except because they know how consistently our program...

    Quarterback battle thread…

you are being facetious, I have to assume. As far as Bessinger, I too am excited about him, but my biggest fear is that he has to wait two (or very possibly three) years to start and that he might therefore transfer. Sort of similar to the "problem" with the running back room having a good...

    Quarterback battle thread…

I can imagine three possible realities on the current status of the Qb situation: 1) neither of them is any good, so neither has separated himself from the other. 2) both are pretty good/very good and neither has separated himself from the other. 3) One or the other (take your pick which one)...

    For Fun…

3-3. We can regroup, though, for the second half of the season and really come into our own and go 5-1 down the stretch, then wait & see which bowl game wants us and our contingent of fans.

DJ Vonnahme -- the next great IOWA Tight End?

very true. we are all waiting with baited breath on the QB situation. I cannot think of a more succinct way of stating it than to quote Socrates: "Nobody knows anything."

August camp time, maybe some news tidbits will trickle in

probably true, but would it not have made more sense for the receiver to stop inside the 1-yard line and burn more clock? Otherwise Indiana has 2 minutes left to march down& tie the score and win in overtime. I am not sure that in the heat of battle the receiver could think thta fast, though.

I am wondering who gets the righ guard job. I thought I heard it is between Myles Myslinski and Lucas Allgeyer. sounds like all four other positions are pretty set.
