    Grew up in Morrison. Covered the Golden Warriors as a member of the print media from 1986-98. So I am well aware few schools boast the facilities and gridiron tradition of Sterling. But the lure of going home to coach your alma mater to glory in front of family can be tough to resist.

    Bears probably can scratch Mike Vrabel off their candidates list as the Patriots have fired Jared Mayo after just one season. If what I have heard, Kraft hired Mayo before the Titans fired Vrabel or else he would have been the pick a year ago.

    I would second with East Side. They didn't even play their best -- more penatlties than usual for this year's team -- and still won by 20.

    Some of these officials look woefully out of shape. Could that be a reason there are so many flags as they just cannot keep up with the speed the game, so they are throwing flags just because they think they see something or are expecting something to happen?

    OK, I wasn't paying that close of attention. I just remember the handful of times I covered title games at Hancock Stadium. The elevated platform and the announcing of the names.

    They used to have a high-rise podium at ISU when they did the trophy presentations. They also mentioned the names of the adminstrators, coaches and captains. Wonder why they changed all that? Probably took too much time I guess.
