Honest conversations need to be had.

When I was in school(granted, this was 4 decades ago), we had 'A', 'AA' and 'AAA', and there was not a huge talent disparity from top to bottom. My high school won 4 state titles in a 6 year span, and we never had anyone 'transfer' to play for us. Back then, your home address dictated what...

    Pick em Playoffs Week 3

Very curious to see how Riverbend handles a step up in class against a perennial power like Stone Bridge. Will they get hit with a dose of reality like Louisa did with Huguenot, or will they prove they are for real. Also want to see if Huguenot can keep it competitive against Varina, or will...

    Huguenot vs Louisa

Oh I agree...they can put some really good teams together; good enough to win some games in the postseason. But I just think they will eventually run into a team that is on another level. Riverbend is undefeated and really good this year, but no one expects them to beat the teams they will...

    Thomas Dale walkoff pick six

Devastating way to lose a game. Almost a parallel to the 2013 Iron Bowl where Auburn beat Bama on the FG return. Very difficult for the kids to keep focused on 'possibly' having to make a tackle on a last second Hail Mary attempt.

    Huguenot vs Louisa

IMO, it doesn't matter who they schedule...they're still gonna have the talent they have, and other schools will continue to have the talent they have. If they schedule a few better teams, it may ultimately make them a better team, but they will simply end up with more losses and a lower seed...

    Huguenot vs Louisa

Louisa is a good team, but they simply haven't played a team with the athletes they saw today. They may have played a team with 1 or 2 next-level athletes...but they haven't played anyone with a team that was full of them; and they were simply overmatched. IMO the shoe will be on the other foot...

Rich Serbay back at James Monroe

I was around back in the 80's when he was building that program. I was a few miles down the road at Courtland. We had the great Ken Brown, with the great Tim Coleman as an assistant, and Jayem had Serbay, who's career speaks for itself...Friday nights were a good time in the...

Thursday/Friday/Saturday Score Updates Will Be Posted on SCOREBOARD Forum

I saw that Brooke Point was wiping the floor with King George; last update I saw was 52-0. Is Brooke Point that good this year, or have the Foxes really fallen of the cliff?

    Next Year...

I'll admit that I(along with everyone else here) have no idea who the top team will be next year. We can all go around and name a dozen teams or so who seem to be 'in the mix' every year...but honestly, no one really knows who the top dog is going to be at this point. Hell, you could have a...

    Salem vs Dinwiddie stats unofficial

mbonape's comment brought up another question for those who watched and studied the game a bit closer. What kind of coverage did Dinwiddie actually play on Salem? Did they press them, or did they play off of them to try and keep everything in front of them. Admittedly, I'm not a coach, and I...

    Salem vs Dinwiddie stats unofficial

Just want to make my hats off to both teams for a very well played game. It only makes sense to me that kids playing in a game of this magnitude can be expected to have a case of 'nerves' for a bit, and maybe take a while to get into the flow of things. That makes it all the more remarkable to...

    Williamsburg has it all.....

Well, if folks don't like football, they have Christmas Town at Busch Gardens...so yeah, Williamsburg may be the the place to be.

After 4 months we end up where most thought we would

More times than that...that's the way it goes. The cream normally rises to the top in the postseason. A few teams like LT, and maybe Byrd and Amherst were really good, and on any given day could maybe knock those teams off, as LT and Bryd played those two VERY tough, and Amherst actually...

What's the deal on 3a with Phoebus and Hopewell?

Let me just say that i think Byrd is a really good football team...and Salem's tougest test to get to the finals. They lost twice to Salem this year by a grand total of 10 points...that's pretty good; not to mention that Salem was the only team to beat them this year. I think Byrd was one of...
