What High Schools don’t have football but probably should?

I think they have a fairly homogenous student body of mostly kids from Dutch Christian Reformed families. Kind of like Chicago Christian and Illiana Christian in that regard. They've been around for many years, so they probably grow most of their own students from within their faith and...

What High Schools don’t have football but probably should?

They are a well-funded, thriving private school that has an excellent athletic program with modern facilities. That doesn't guarantee success in football, but it sure helps.

What High Schools don’t have football but probably should?

Or they are in the wrong conference. Take Leo (last playoff appearance in 2013), for example. More power to Leo for sticking it out in the CCL, but getting pasted in CCL crossover games against Rita, Laurence, Naz, Montini, etc. every year keeps them from qualifying for the playoffs more often...

University High School in Chicago with ~600 students.

I've not seen or heard anything about a new campus for them. What scoops can you share?

    Bears to compete with IHSA

And you know this how? I got home from ISU last fall at around 1:45 in the morning because the 8A game got over so late. Don't know if I would do that again. I'd definitely do it again if I knew I could be home by 11:45 or 12. Why use that one example of one school from one class? Most of...

    Bears to compete with IHSA

I went to the 8A game last fall, but I probably would not take off a day of work to do that. My Friday after Thanksgiving tradition is to watch games while I make turkey soup. My family knows that and gives me that day to enjoy.

    Bears to compete with IHSA

So then let's make the site equally inconvenient for all but the handful of schools from central Illinois that find their way to the title game, right? Here's a great idea...let's intentionally make it a long trip for MOST schools and fans so as to NOT show favoritism to the big city market...

Do you really want championship games played on a day that the vast majority of working people do not have off?

ESCC merging with the CCL for all sports

One more thing, Gooms... With a successful and competitive DePaul Prep embedding itself on the city's northside, there's another new local conference rivalry for NDCP that wouldn't have begun were it not for the merger. How does the following look to you as a possible football division? NDCP...

ESCC merging with the CCL for all sports

I hear ya, Gooms, but nobody is taking your memories from you...other than your advancing age! ;) Think of the new memories your current and future Dons will have. I, for one, am hoping that future alumni at LA and NDCP will be able to share memories of a more intense and meaningful rivalry...

    Lisle

I'll take it one step further, Mike, and suggest that the two adjoining school districts ought to consider merging. Even if they operate two campuses for a while, they could still take advantage of other economies of scale and save the taxpayers in both districts a bunch of money. If Westmont...

    Lisle

2-16 over the past two years and a winless season last year. At roughly 400 kids, they are very small by suburban HS standards. Doesn't take much for the bottom to fall out of a school that size. Additionally, they are pretty much of a fish out of water in that conference of theirs. It's...

ESCC merging with the CCL for all sports

I had two daughters attend Regina, with the last one graduating 10 years ago. I continue to follow Regina athletics. One of the most exciting girls high school basketball games I've seen in a long time was last year when Regina beat Phillips in the super-sectional finals at Morton Community...

ESCC merging with the CCL for all sports

I love this stuff. Are the above divisions for non-football sports? If so, I think they would probably wind up going with smaller divisions for football in order to qualify more teams for the playoffs. For example: Far North: LA, CoM, Viator, ND, DePaul Sorta Central: Pat's, Fenwick...
