On a side note, Vandy doesn't look like a good football team.

Did you see how Vandy won?

    Where were you

I was on my way to teach a lab. Like Anon, I heard Rick and Bubba talking about a small plane hitting the first tower as I drove in, then I went in Harned to set up the lab not knowing what was going on. When only 1 person showed up for the lab, I went down the hall to ask another TA if they...

OT: Brisket. Fat cap up, or down?

I was about to say similar. That’s exactly what Malcom Reed said in his videos overtime & following his smoking advice has never let me down.

    Who're you pulling for?

This is stupid. You said, “He isn’t getting that much from MLS. Look it up.” I showed you that he has the second highest total compensation contract in soccer to be Miami. You’ve gone in circles and are now at: that may be true, but no real team would pay that much and it’s for marketing. I...

    Who're you pulling for?

We understand. You’re a self-righteous moron. Your argument is to ignore all the other parts of the deal except the base pay, so you can right. Contracts are more than just base pay. Using your logic, MSU only pays Lebby $800,000 a year because the rest comes from Bulldog Club. Elon is...

    Who're you pulling for?

Wait, you literally linked to an article that says his contract with Miami is for an annual 70-80 million, 25 million based plus revenue share to get up to 70-80 million, which is #2 in contracted compensation annually. Then he gets another 70-80 million a year in off field endorsements on top...

    Who're you pulling for?

I guess Miami’s owner, Jorge Mas is a liar? “Taking into account his ownership stake in Inter Miami, Messi collects $70 million to $80 million per year, club owner Jorge Mas told Bloomberg in March.”...

    Who're you pulling for?

Messi’s total (base salary plus revenue sharing) annual compensation from Miami and MLS is 70 to 80 million a year, making him the second highest paid player in the world for on field play. Add in his endorsements and it doubles to $140 million.

    Who're you pulling for?

Absolutely incredible how he made both those goals happen.

Nolan Wells death on Horn Island..

I worked at a mortuary for several years in my late teens and early 20s. There’s no grief like that of a parent who lost a child. The range of raw emotions is incredible. I’ve seen reactions range. catatonic shock to temporary insanity. All deal with it in different ways - I feel for all of...

What do we have to do to host?

We went 17-13 in 2024 and were #2 at UVA.

What do we have to do to host?

Over the past 5 seasons, one SEC team each year won 16 or 17 conference games but didn’t host. Their average record was 37-18. If we go 6-6 in conference and lose the governor’s cup game, we finish 38-17, which looks almost exactly like the SEC team that gets left out. We need 8 conference...

Playing off Lent thread, what religion are you?

I highly recommend Jonathan Haidt’s book, the righteous mind. He doesn’t get into if a given religion is true or false, but religions role in moral psychology.

Playing off Lent thread, what religion are you?

This drinking conversation reminds me of the old joke I learned growing up in a Baptist church. How do you keep a Baptist from drinking all your beer? Invite two of them.

The MSU math instructor email that has gone viral nationally

That reporting requirement isn’t really enforced at all institutions equally. I usually only got asked about attendance for specific students on academic probation or athletes. I rarely took role past the first week, even in small lectures. Forget about a 200+ person lecture. Not a baby sitter.
