K State FB Players Announce Boycott

Goodness I don’t want him removed from the earth. But expelled yes. He can get a job at breitbart or something he’ll be okay financially. It’s not an either or about justice for those cases you mentioned. I’m commenting on this dude who has exhibited racist language, action, and affiliations in...

Fair point and true that it’s a slippery slope as to what speech that type of retribution could extend to. I don’t want “mob” rule, but I do want consequences for racists. Also, it’s at the heart of protest to boycott. How can you criticize the kstate players for using their leverage to get...

K State FB Players Announce Boycott

Considering the context of who said it, yes it absolutely was racist. And not part of creating an environment free of racism. It was not just a bad joke. It was hateful and evil, done publicly and intentionally. If he wants to hold those beliefs he should be willing to accept the consequences...

That’s a fair point and is the only reason he hasn’t been expelled already. The way I interpret the law it would be fair to expel him. But it’s not my interpretation kstate has to worry about.

Do you know anything about the guy who said it? There’s a reason HIM making that comment is more than just classless. It’s hate speech. Strange hill to die on defending a white nationalist.

Free speech protects him from prison. Not from being fired/expelled. There are consequences for racist language. If he worked at my place of employment I’d boycott til he was fired too.

What definition are you working with? Not trying to be a smart alek just curious how you define it?

I’m with you in that foul language often turns me off and I admire communication that doesn’t resort to that. However, sometimes foul language is very effective in communicating how strong and deep a thought or feeling is. I think it was used appropriately here in that regard.

    Question for Clemson alumni

Bryan Stevenson (Just Mercy) has a great quote that if you go to Germany you know about the dark past, not because nazi leaders are memorialized, but because history is properly taught so as to never repeat it. Same thing in places like Rwanda and South Africa. But here in the south. We don’t...

    Question for Clemson alumni

Change anything that memorializes these SOB’s. Not about changing history. It’s about honoring the honorable and condemning the deplorable. We can have a museum about Tillman et al if you want. But it won’t be something his descendants will be proud about I can tell you that. Better if he’s...
