Ex PSU player Justin Williams with Ziegler

There is a reason witnesses and deponents are given a chance to review and correct the transcript generated by the court reporter (which, certainly back then and even now with better technology, routinely contains errors in wording and punctuation, and never of course—as you point out with your...

Letter to the Editor: Penn State’s Failed Experiment (The Curse of Joe Paterno)

“[M]oved from wanting excellence to demanding pefiction.” It wasn’t just a portion of the PSU fanbase that has done that. Our entire, social media driven, society has done that. Therefore, what you are saying happened at PSU (and I agree with you in many respects) is merely a reflection of...

    OT: Renegade.

Listen to the lyrics. Hangman coming down from the gallows…. Blitzburgh, aggressive defense, coming at you in the 4th quarter…Don’t overthink it. Plus, Pittsburgh has long been a 70’s and 80’s metal town.

For the first time in a very long time, it was nice not to have sand kicked in our face…

Who gives a rip what their fans think? Since when does that have an impact whatsoever on the existing talent level?

    BoT (ches).

I know, I know we all need to “move on,” onward and upward, but that sort of attitude is precisely why the scandal still lingers. The fact of the matter is that, unless and until the rift among the alumni and supporters over this issue is fully and finally healed, PSU will never truly be the...

    BoT (ches).

It is particularly galling when you see how the scandals in the same timeframe at Universities that stood up for themselves (OSU, Michigan, USC, Notre Dame, Michigan State) have simply faded away. Nobody talks about them, yet the first thing that people think of when they discuss Penn State is...

This whole Lane Kiffin soap opera demonstrates the wild west, no rules, no integrity, environment CFB has sunk to... If this doesn't demonstrate....

And this is why you hire a Terry Smith. I know it seems idealistic and naive, but maybe Penn State’s brand (and its superpower) is to reject all that college football has become and reinvest in and embrace its values and its history.

What would James Franklin's Creamery flavor be called?

I will give a non-pejorative answer. Were he still coach, the obvious choice would have been Franklin Mint. Alas, we will never know

University presidents, boards of directors and alums need to have a Come-to-Jesus meeting.

It isn’t so much the court decision that is the problem, it is what programs are being allowed to do based on it. Players aren’t really being paid for use of their name, image and likeness, they are just being paid. That was not really the intent of the court decision, which had been...

Napier out at Florida…wonder if they take a shot at hiring CJF

It wouldn’t shock me if he is hired by week’s end. Franklin will then poach recruits and probably even current roster players and Pat Kraft will look like a complete fool. I hope I am dead wrong, but I see this turning out better for Franklin than PSU.

Official PSU - Iowa '25 game thread

Correct! It is the ridiculous, video game, gimmicky offensive scheme. They brought in three receivers who were productive at their prior programs, yet they have absolutely no downfield passing game in this horrible, dink and dunk scheme which relies entirely on fooling the defense. I am dead...

Franklin is Out as Head Coach

Loyalty ended when teams started paying players. I wish it weren’t so, but sadly I think expecting loyalty from players anymore is a fool’s errand. Allar was loyal and look what it did for him. It potentially ruined his football career.

Franklin is Out as Head Coach

Sure, but this is Penn State. Both are a priority.

Franklin is Out as Head Coach

Sadly, in this new environment, you are correct.

Franklin is Out as Head Coach

Sure, but he put his heart and soul into this job and it blew up in his face. He loves the kids and PSU (his home state school) and feels like he failed them. No amount of money can truly heal that sort of wound.
