How are we going to be competitive?

Using this as a reference: https://thenilstandard.com/football/teams/penn-state?view=portal. Not sure how accurate this is, but the glass half full view is that the lion's share of the portal revenue was spent on "graduating" seniors. For those with eligibility, you can free up $3.8m by cutting...

Sitake would have been a better option than Campbell

I don’t agree with firing Campbell now, but when faced with the option of giving your plan F hire an 8yr $70M fully guaranteed contract or your plan G hire (Terry) a 4yr deal at $4m/yr, and you keep half your recruiting class and limit portal departures, we’d be better off with Terry

Oh no, we lost Whill Whood.

Terry Smith Should Have Been Named HC

While Franklin's midseason firing was an emotional decision, the only logical reason to do so is to see what you have with Terry Smith. He took a team that looked lifeless with a first-year QB and almost beat Iowa in Kinnick, and almost beat the National Champs at home. He did a much better job...

'26 PSU - Michigan game thread

Four problems this game: Not getting 7 on the first drive 2 Underwood INT = 0 point 3 Becht turnovers = 21 points 4th Q, 4th and 3 on your own 45ish, punting. You’re running out of drives and need points.

Becht has had 5 years with this staff and multiple years with his WRs and Brahmer, and this is the best we’re going to get. The middle of the field is non existent and more INT than TD.

This is why it’s so frustrating in the first quarter of these games when they’re driving, and then go back to Hansen runs killing drives, and settle for 3. This should be a 7-7 game

    Rebuilding the base

CFB NIL Valuation Site I'm skeptical that this site is accurate, but if true or in the ballpark of what was being paid, there were some questionable portal decisions here: Becht for $2m, Grunk available for 1.5M Ezeogu making $1.2M, top 15 for portal players at Edge, and has 0 sacks...

    Rebuilding the base

It's tough to pontificate on what to do with the roster, as we don't know who is getting paid what, but here's how I'd break down what's left on the roster: Must Retain: Koby Howard, Zayas, Manske (depending on what they do in the portal), Dixson, Tatsch, Rojas, Rapp, Cousins, M. Goodman. You...

    Recap

What’s most disappointing is that the only non-QB ISU transfer making any kind of an impact is Sowell. Lots of hype about Marcus Neal and Cooper upgrading the safety room. Brahmer is a non factor and Eskildsen wouldn’t make Ohio State’s scout team. Don’t get me started on the LB and DT. On the...

Official '26 PSU - USC game thread

We knew this was a total rebuild with or without Franklin’s firing, and Campbell did the best he could to assemble a roster, but he has to realize that Rapp, Collins and Koby Howard are probably the only guys that would start for #19 USC.
