    No suprise Westover is on the list. They have been unlucky since their first team they ever fielded in 1977. Always a have not in football despite having some talent. Too much local competition and never ever the ability to retain a long term coach despite having a few good coaches along the way.

    Oscar Smith vs Varina

    There are several intriguing games scheduled between NC and VA schools this year. I know of Maury vs Mallard Creek, Varina vs Grimsley, and Hough vs Green Run as the likely biggest ones between NC and VA.

    I agree with your scheduling point for sure with the exception of Monroe, whom WC absolutely destroyed last year. I think WC should win that game rather easily.

    Varina also plays Grimsley from NC who has won multiple titles in a row in North Carolina. Varina gave them a very close game last year down in North Carolina. I saw film of that game and was very impressed by the Varina QB. Does he return this year or did he graduate?

    I remember when they won the 3A title 2 years ago, everyone wrote that the team was full of sophomores then so they should have plenty of experience by now.     I forget the name of the tall lanky kid at Northern Nash that was offered by UNC. Did he play for them this year or transfer out to a private school. I think I last remember he did transfer out to a private school. Edit to add his name CJ Rosser. Just looked it up.

    Google says it's a 27 minute drive from 71st to Hoke High. Not bad and roads have improved but I actually thought it was even closer than that.
