    Best IHSA Player/Coach Career

I would add Jake Jaworski Player: Member of 2 State Championship teams ('00 & '01) Coach: 2 State Championships ('18 & '21) + 2 Runner Up finishes ('23 & '24) Covid may have robbed a '20 Championship as that squad graduated a lot of talent that mentored the '21 team

    Prep Bowl Update

In 1979 there was going to be no Prep Bowl until Taylor Bell intervened and convinced McDade's Catalogue house to sponsor the tournament and NBC Channel 5 to continue broadcasting the Semi Finals & Championship games. Only 80 teams made the IHSA playoffs in 1979 (today that number is 256)...

    JCA 30 PC 27 FINAL

Agreed. A lot to clean up. Last night’s was a very physical game. I hope the boys can maintain the intensity.

    Does Marist stream home games?

An effort to do so is made. My experience was that they buffer home games.

From our friends at the Herald News: “By halftime of week one, we were down four defensive starters for the next few weeks,” Jaworski said. “We got three guys back now"

Agreed. It was week #3 and they did not appear to be prepared to play.

Did JCA have a bunch of starters out against LT?

I believe that it was 4 players banged up against LT that did not play: OL, DE, LB & DB. The "next up" players performed as well as a "next up" guy can be expected to, and their teammates stepped it up in the starters absence. The traditional Hilltopper OL is just not there this year. The...

LT 24. Hilltoppers 14 FINAL nm

I agree with the comments above. It was a very physical game. Had it been Iowa City or like, many would be touting the revamped Hilltopper offense and the promise of the season ahead. Credit is due to LT who is coming off of an 11-1 season and looks poised to do well this year. Their QB sells...

LTHS at JCA what do you think

A very good first game match up pitting two teams who are each needing to learn how many players starting their first Varsity game perform on a big stage. Worthy opponents that will give each other a good look about where they will need to work.
