The guys pointing at Oscar’s flaws used to drive me insane. I thought that guy played as hard as any player I had ever seen. There was no way to replace him with some five star high school kid.
Absolutely correct! Another problem is the “everyone does it” excuse. Pivot feet change- no call. Carry the ball on a cross over-no call. Catch the ball and run two steps until before you dribble or stop- no call. It’s very difficult to defend in today’s game.
Like most teams, we struggle to defend the ball screens. . It is a difficult aspect of defense for most SEC teams because of all the multiple screens that are being set for quality offensive players. It is really hard to help because of the good three point shooters that stretch the defense out.
Speaking of Lanier- he was interviewed last night and said he came to Tennessee to play for a coach who would develop him. I thought it was a slap in the face to the North Florida coaches. They developed him into a guy who was all conference and good enough to transfer into the SEC. Just tell...
I agree but sometimes players who struggle with man to man defense are even worse in a zone defense. Coaching staff might not have any confidence in the ability to play hard and get stops with the zone. Definitely would cut down on some of the foul trouble though..
The oldest trick in coaching. “Sources” link you to a job that you don’t want. The source is usually a media guy who is friendly with the coach. The coach then squeezes the AD for a big raise in pay. The AD uses the situation to ask the alumni to give more money. Then the AD raises ticket...
Almanor is quietly becoming a really solid player. I thought the SEC would be over his head earlier in the season. However, there is always a place for a shooter and he is also defended very well tonight. The defense was much improved tonight.
