Figured Fenwick would win, but didn’t anticipate a running-clock victory against a really solid Rolling Meadows team. The Friars look like a team that could very well be playing on Thanksgiving weekend at ISU.
11) That Fenwick still looks formidable despite losing several key players from last year, including a couple of guys now on Big Ten teams. Quite an impressive victory on the road over last year's 4A champs.
With three players committed to Big Ten schools, including Owen Lansu (Minnesota) and Will Vaia (Illinois), I think Downers North is the team to beat in the WSC Silver this year. But not by much. York lost a lot from last year but their juniors went undefeated on the lower levels the past two...
I don't see how Chicago State will pull this off. Good chance that no local high school coach will take the challenge. IMO it might work only if they hire a well-known local name, and the best high school coaches like Lynch, Lenti, Racki, Zvonar, and Inserra aren't about to make the move to...
I understand Fenwick's freshmen shutout OPRF. I know their sophomores won 9-7. So adding on the varsity's 30-0 shutout, that's the second consecutive program sweep for the Friars over the Huskies.
Was wondering about that because I was very stunned to see that score, especially considering the game was at DLS. Now I know why.
Hopefully, Harold - who did some real good things in his previous CCL tenure (think he was at Hales Franciscan) - can right things. But also sounds like it'll be a...
Can't believe no one's mentioned Glenbard West's Duchon Field. Great setting, next door to Lake Ellyn and surrounded by picturesque homes. Green grass, no lights - Duchon is the ultimate throwback stadium. That's what makes #1 in my mind.
With Hanson reopening this fall, I wonder if St. Pat's will consider a return. It's closer to their campus than Triton College (where they play home games now).
Possible broadcast team for the U likely would've been Jim Blaney, Jack McInerney, and Mark Krueger. Like you said, doubtful it happens now, but you never know.
