Midler was wrong. No question. Two wrongs don't make a right. There is a respectful way to respond, and it could have been done in a manner that would elevate West Virginia.

Leaders don't read polls and then craft a message that appeals to the masses. That's what populists do. Anybody can be a populist. Not everyone can be a leader. Leaders identify, then study problems and determine appropriate solutions. The correct solution is rarely the popular solution...
