    There’s some resurgence for girls’ basketball at the rec level if the middle school will keep it going. The heyday of Thomasville girls basketball was when AAU was strong. That imploded mostly due to lack of character among some of the coaches.

    Thanks WOW. And I agree completely about the effect of losing some really good coaches. So that runs the Bulldogs’ collective sports record to 19-62. And three of those four sports were those that had traditionally been very successful at Thomasville.

    It’s mostly about winning. Teams that win consistently attract kids who want that experience. Conversely, it doesn’t take many years of getting beaten regularly for kids to stay away. Peer pressure can be a powerful motivator both ways.

    I have a lot of respect for his coaching ability. Don’t know him personally. But I do know he was putting out feelers well before he left Oak Grove. Some coaches just seem to have an itch and can’t stay in one place for very long. Eventually it usually catches up with them.
