USMNT Soccer Brouhaha: Berhalter blackmailed during World Cup...

We barely met the minimum expectations for this team and van Gaal made Berhalter look like a 12-year-old who'd just gotten his first copy of Football Manager. "Controlled the game". Wow. The guy had 6 or 7 of the best American players EVER, and is being measured against a history of teams that...

    Brian Kelly to LSU.

More volatility and ability to make an impact in college. Recruiting vs draft. Developing raw talent vs marginal gains with professionals. Competing with other schools for fans and students vs a relatively captive audience in the NFL. And college is not a cartel like the NFL, so there is a lot...

I thought Jimbo Fisher was a home run hire.

He's overrated but he did have A&M on the playoff bubble last year. That's not nothing.

    Soccer Question

Premier League, Premier League, Premier League. Best league in the world with the best American tv coverage. And has the most casual American fans by far. The whole thing revolves around the Big 6 clubs. You can dive in on one club or just casually follow different ones depending on who is...

    Starkville Biz Thread

I agree, I went to MDCC in the early 2000's and have gone back to the Delta a few times recently, and really didn't notice any difference. It's been a depressing place for a long time now.

Soccerpost: USMNT squad for October WCQ matches announced…

Well for starters, it doesn't seem like Tuchel thinks he's a top 11 player at Chelsea.

    Direction of our school

That might be part of the problem right there. If we think the rankings matter - and it seems that we do - then we would probably be better off focusing our energy on addressing our shortcomings instead of lobbying US News.

Steve tweeted that the punt “return” was reviewed on replay by replay officials.

Honestly, there is so much bias and shithousery in how refs decide what plays they are reviewing and how closely, that the whole thing should be thrown out. I would rather go back to having no review, or only coaches challenges.

Official admission of guilt by the SEC officials

Come on Pat. They spent about 5 seconds looking at that play. If Leach raises hell, calls a timeout, and asks for a review they would have taken a much closer look.

I really want to be wrong.

thanks for your input, that still leaves lots of winnable games.

Kentucky, Arkansas, LSU, Auburn, and OM. You people are acting like you've never watched SEC football before. Teams improve. I thought we we would start 2-1 and go 5-7, and still feel the same. 6 or 7 wins definitely seems less likely now but not impossible.

I really want to be wrong.

You lost me when you started building up the team that almost lost to Chattanooga today. I do not feel good about our team but there are a lot of winnable games on our schedule.

The botched punt return call ultimately decided the game

There is an element of there being a lack of focus and execution for sure, but leaning on these checkdowns and short routes so heavily is the root of the problem. Rogers is operating under the illusion that he is making the safe plays, but a 1 or 2 yard completion might as well be an incomplete...
