    Jay Young's RU Practices

I remember watching some of Jay's practices at Stony Brook. Real hands on approach. Likes to fire balls at players faces and challenge them verbally to see how much his players can take before they "break." Real innovative and cutting edge stuff.

    Pikiell's Offense ?

Motion offense with a lot of pick and roll. Usually enter the post on the weak side after a ball reversal. Guys are allowed to play though. If you are open, shoot. If you have a lane, take it to the basket. Very few set plays except for out of bounds. His teams ran when they could, but...

    Early season Tourney?

I know being brand new to RU will make a difference, but at Stony Brook the team went on European trips twice in the last 4 or 5 years. I am sure that will be back on the table once everything gets settled in.

    lack of conditioning/work habits

I would expect a couple more wins, Corey is a great player and some injured guys should be back. I guess my point is that the record next year is less consequential than the attitude and effort of the program. Having said that, if the guys buy in then the same exact players should win 5 or 6...

    lack of conditioning/work habits

You could not be more wrong. The team had awful work habits. That's not on the players, it's on the coaches. Not satisfied with strength and conditioning is a massive misrepresentation. There was NO strength or conditioning. The players were not working out on their own at all. You can't...

    ALL-ACCESS: Rutgers Basketball Offseason Workouts

Am I the only one who pictures this every time you see RU-Choppin's signature?

    Support Staff

Van Dyke is one of Pikiell's guys. I don't have any direct knowledge, but I guarantee that he will be very involved with the basketball team and will work directly with the players. Expect him to be on the bench for games going nuts down by the trainer.

Politi blasts Paramus Catholic and Harbaugh

I see no problem with it. A win, win for both parties. I saw Harbaugh speak at Lauren's First and Goal camp last year. A one day football camp at Lafayette that raises money for brain cancer research. He's an outstanding speaker. I will agree that it is not good for Rutgers. but isn't that...

    Stony Brook APR

Maybe this isn't a bad thread to discuss how RU is one of four Big 10 schools that have academic requirements beyond NCAA qualifying standards and how kids that can easily get into Mich St. and nine other B10 schools can't get into RU.

    Stony Brook APR

Totally agree!!!! Why would we want our student athletes to strive to be good students?

    Stay calm (Stony Brook incident)

This situation sucks for sure. It's also fair to bring it up just as an item to discuss. This is literally the first time a Stony Brook player has been in any kind of trouble with the law at all in the past 11 years (since Pikiell got there). A few years ago there were rumors that a player...

Knight supposed to start this week (as of 4/18)

The other thing that drives me crazy is how reporters have allowed themselves to continually quote unnamed sources to "protect" the source. Good journalism should be more transparent than this. How many reporters are now making crap up and attributing it to the unnamed?

Knight supposed to start this week (as of 4/18)

Stop. Until it's done they have to say it's not done, but it's done.

    Shoes retained. Knight hired.

I can only assume I am the source 247sports is using for both the Knight and "Shoes" info. I am an unconfirmed and have been touting this exact move for a week. Too bad I don't own a horn.
