    Sherando vs Amherst

Salem beat Amherst 49-7 in a benefit game last week. Salem may be back, but it doesn't look like Amherst is.

Historical question for James Monroe & Courtland fans. And Spotsylvania effects.

It's still an all time shocker. I'd rate that Salem team as the equal or near equal of the 1998 and 2015 teams, which are generally considered the best. In addition to Parker, there were several others who would be considered all-time greats such as Brad Bradley. Stephen Magenbauer would've...

Real or fake news: VHSL should consider combining C5 and C6

I think six divisions are fine for football where school enrollment makes a big difference in talent available, all other factors being equal. (Which they aren't always, as has been pointed out.) Three or four classes are fine for other sports. It's too diluted with six now.

GW Danville getting a lot of love

Goodyear aside, the Danville/Pittsylvania area has several big economic development projects underway. Lithium-ion battery plant with 1,800 jobs, rocket plant with 1,500 jobs, and data center. Big projects have claimed most of the industrial land in Danville and Pittsylvania. The region is...

Confirmation on Salem hosting C1-4 football championships

A chance for Salem to achieve what eluded them in 1991 but definitely a long shot this year.

Let’s have some fun while we wait for the schedule release…

Thanks. I didn't know that Graham's current coach was on that team. I agree that Bradley may not be done.

Let’s have some fun while we wait for the schedule release…

I'd like to see the battle of the Salems: Spartans vs. Sun Devils. Also, the William Bryan Cup game of Salem (VA) vs Salem (NJ). Salem vs Riverheads might be more realistic as an intriguing matchup.

Let’s have some fun while we wait for the schedule release…

1989 Salem 23 - Graham 6 FFE Highlights Between White, Carlock, Magenbauer, and Bradley this game featured four men who would win a combined 14 state championships as head coaches.

What’s the best team Pulaski has ever fielded.

I think read on these forums once that Coach White in retrospect wishes that he had just kept quiet on the whole cleats affair. He was obviously very frustrated at the time. It's difficult to imagine now, but he wasn't sure he'd ever again have a run of talent like the 1989-1992 teams. I'm...

What’s the best team Pulaski has ever fielded.

2008 is a little past my time, but they look like a great team. The were undefeated when they narrowly lost to 2 time defending state champion Amherst in the state semis. The Lancers lost in the state championship that year to Broad Run, but Pulaski was clearly a strong contender that year...

What’s the best team Pulaski has ever fielded.

Even though they won the state championship in 1992, the 1993 team has to be considered the best. They were ranked in the USA Today Top 25 all year long and mostly steamrolled their first 13 opponents. Unfortunately, they lost a key player in the state semifinal which directly led to them...

    TJHS-Alexandria hires female FB Coach

Give her a chance. I doubt that TJ had highly accomplished coaches applying.

    Lets talk PORTAL

I agree with one free transfer without sitting out a season. I would also grant free transfers if the head coach leaves or if the student-athlete has completed their bachelor's degree. The five years to complete four seasons of eligibility should be reestablished. If you're injured for two or...

    Customize Your Schedule

For Salem, @ Handley @ Riverheads William Byrd Spotsylvania Jefferson Forest Patrick Henry @Northside @Glenvar @Martinsburg Varina This would be a good schedule for a state-caliber Salem team. Salem still needs a W against Spotsy and Martinsburg. Northside would return as rivals as would Byrd...
