    Referee Brian Shey

I personally know a couple of D-1 officials, and know a little bit of the process of getting to the highest level. My friend is actually a pretty good official, but most importantly he is one of those guys that can bs his way into anything. He can fit in anywhere he goes, and can put his self...

    A serious suggestion about officiating

They miss over 50% of the calls on run outs because the back ref is behind the play. Go back to the 2 referee system on half of the court and don't make them have to chase the players down the court. It has not cleaned up the game any by going to three referees. Games are being decided on...

The refs need to explain the full nelson foul

The foul should of been called as soon as the ball came of the rim. When the shot was in the air the A&M runs up a lays on KTs back. Call it when it first happens and it never comes to that. I had never seen so many players just blatantly grabbing and throwing players out of the way for...

This refereeing crew was incompetent or crooked.

Game is getting too rough in the trenches again. That's why you are seeing 7 foot guys missing so many two foot shots. It negates our size advantage when you let 6'8 kids play that physical. It basically pretty much evens out the size difference. Last year they cleaned up the post play and...

    A serious suggestion about officiating

I think we need three refs. One on each end and one at half court. Rotate on violations. The game has outpaced these older guys. Will be less fatigued. Baseline ref doesnt go past the opposite free throw lane and only looks for something flagrant when the ball is on the other end.

    What is up with Dakari?

Doesn't jump well. Has a hard time getting his shot off and officials have let them play inside lately. He was getting to the line a lot early on and teams couldn't get as aggressive when defending him. Now refs letting them play and they are challenging him every shot.

    ********OFFICIAL GAME THREAD********

Conference play so far looks like we are back in the early 2000's when Mich St was dominating. Get you a couple of 6'9" muscle guys inside and you can defend the post. Makes for ugly basketball, but it works. Thought the game was trying to move away from that. No way that this many college...

Brutal inside right now. Towns getting shoved in the back from the block to the foul line on the possession before they got him for a foul.

    Letting them play physical inside.

    ********OFFICIAL GAME THREAD********

One thing I have notice in the struggles lately is that the refs are letting the teams play at the rim. We have struggled (and everyone will) to utilize our size because it is hard to finish inside. With our length Cal has taught our kids to try and defend without fouling and just block the...

Calipari struggles against good point guards

The thing about tonight is that Ole Miss had three guards that really stepped up. After Moody started getting cramps, the other guard started busting some tough threes. It's hard to guard really quick players, but when they get hot from three it almost makes it impossible. Ullis should give...

The Blueprint, aka Ole Miss gameplan.

This is basketball and not football and there is a big difference. Tournament time is a one and out and a hot team like Ole Miss can give you and early exit. UK is a great team, but March Madness has that name for a reason. That's what scares the heck out of me. We get a team with quick...

So...... what did they do well??

They won a game where the other team played above their ability. From Ole Miss hitting tough shots, to not getting a favorable whistle at home, and to still pull out a win is a positive. Inside game missed some easy shots. I think the play that kind of sums up what kind of night it was for UK...
