    OT: Stupid Commercials

I have noticed both of those commercials and find them particularly funny as they are so silly. I love the girl saying, “You read my diary?” The commercial that falls completely flat for me is the State Farm Patrick Mahomes “typical sneakerhead.” I completely missed the point as I thought it...

    OT: Vaccine: 2nd Dose

I had my 2nd Moderna dose today at 10:45 a.m. My arm is definitely hurting more than when I had the first one. Very minor discomfort with the first one. If I was in a study, I would have thought that I received the placebo.

OT: Major Winter Storm for Philly-NJ-NYC Area (12-24" very likely) for late Sun (1/31) into Tues (2/2)

I have a Leonberger and a German Shepherd. The Leonberger would live in the snow if she could.

OT Poll: would you personally take a CV-19 vaccine before it passes a Phase III clinical trial?

Heterosexuals don’t get HIV? He is incredibly respected and has been one of the few people working for this administration who is willing to speak the truth. Thank you Dr. Fauci.

OT Poll: would you personally take a CV-19 vaccine before it passes a Phase III clinical trial?

Three weeks ago yes. Today ...Not on the recommendation of the now corrupted FDA. Thank you Trump for wrecking another institution. If Dr. Fauci tells me it is safe enough to take, I will take it.

    OT: Shingles, ever had them?

The vaccine is in short supply and I don't think most doctor's offices keep it in stock, or if they get it, it will be in small quantities. My doctor who is part of a very large group does not have it. As someone else wrote, the big pharmacies have it in stock intermittently and they advertise...

    Conversation with a Bama fan

RC '1989 grad and longstanding RU fan. I was at the RAC for the A-10 championship in 1989 and there for Louisville. Unbelievable experiences. Have been following RU sports for years, have intermittently been a season ticket holder, and I have donated for years (and still do so). My son is a...

    OT: Coffee

Looooong time reader (2001 or so), rare poster and this thread has my interest as I am a coffee enthusiast. I don't see that much has been made of the freshness of the roast. You want to get WHOLE beans (needs to be ground just before using) from someplace that has the date of the roast on the...

OT: MMR vaccine not associated with autism, even in at risk children

It's awful. Not new news though. You see much more of an emphasis nowadays on disclosure of conflicts of interest and limitations on drug reps presence in healthcare. We haven't had one in my facility in over five years.

OT: MMR vaccine not associated with autism, even in at risk children

You really have this wrong. Anyone who believes in the scientific method would not hold science up as infallible. Scientists modify their thinking when new evidence comes along. However, the thinking that you are referring to really is pre-scientific. You certainly can find "learned...

OT: MMR vaccine not associated with autism, even in at risk children

No, science didn't tell us those things. Religion and pre-scientific notions told us the first two. Science corrected it. The last one was the tobacco companies and money. The nature of science is that it's self-correcting. If there was credible evidence that vaccines were associated with...

OT: MMR vaccine not associated with autism, even in at risk children

More non-science. Here's a link related to a Canadian story that provides a pretty good summary of the Gardasil non-story. https://www.sciencebasedmedicine.org/how-not-to-report-about-vaccine-safety-issues-toronto-star-edition/
