Yippee for the Big Ten. This Michigan championship should really help Penn State basketball get over the hump.

FC/OT: BWI Group Trip to Vegas?

Rumor has it that Vegas made things super accessible to the masses, particularly after COVID, and the quality of the clientele took a major drop. So they jacked up prices in order to discourage the riff raff from coming to Vegas, but they may have overshot a bit. Not sure how much of that is...

    2025 - 2026 Premier League thread

On another note, if I am reading the English Championship League table correctly, Leicester City is in danger of relegation from the ECL. Crazy to see from a team that won the EPL not that long ago.

As I said before, Duke is soft. They would have lost to either AZ or Michigan anyway.

Official NCAA MBB Sweet 16 Elite 8 Games Thread.

We shall see. They didn't look very tough in the first two rounds of the tourney. Maybe they were just tight and will get their bearings now that they are in the Sweet 16. But maybe the ACC as a whole was soft.

Official NCAA MBB Sweet 16 Elite 8 Games Thread.

I have a sneaking suspicion that Duke is a soft team. I will be curious to see how they respond if St. John's gets physical with them and the refs let them play. Although it will depend on who is reffing the game. There are a bunch of NCAA games where both teams get into the bonus before 10...

OT: Robots are being used to challenge balls and strikes during spring training games!

Interesting. I wonder though how it accounts for a player like George Brett or Pete Rose who crouched in their batting stance.

OT: TMB Movie Club - Use this thread for feature films in theaters or streaming....

I will have to check it out because I'm a big Peaky Blinders fan, but your review is not encouraging! Usually your recommendations are spot on, Midnighter. The only one I can remember having a strong opposing viewpoint from you was the most recent season of True Detective.

    Biltmore Estate

I highly recommend it. We spent a day there a couple of years ago. As an engineer, I found many aspects of the building and operations design to be ingenious. In addition, the grounds were developed by Frederick Olmsted, who also designed Central Park in NYC.

tOSU President resigning over inappropriate relationship...

It sounds like you have a great wife. Sometimes a spouse really needs to weigh in on a career decision, because they see your situation from a different perspective than you can see it yourself. Good on you, LionJim.

Growing momentum for the 24-team playoff

I think the problem is that the secondary goals have become less meaningful in recent years. Once players started sitting out of the Rose Bowl to avoid injury, I'm afraid the writing was on the wall. I would prefer the 4-4-2-2-1-1 format, which still allows for conference "play-in" games...

    OT: Your best celebrity encounters?

In 1994, my wife was 7 months pregnant and I had to take a business trip. On the return, I was waiting for my bags at the luggage carousel. I look over, and I see a pretty girl who looks really familiar. It was Cindy Crawford. We make some small talk, she’s in town to visit her sister, etc...

Eagles (the band) at the Sphere

That should be perfect, Alphalion. We saw Kenny Chesney at The Sphere last June. It wasn’t even my type of music, but what a great show. It is hard to describe the experience. My only advice is to go about 30 minutes early so that you can take in the experience both outside and inside the...
