Virtual Benefit Concert for Marshall Fire Victims

No problem. That line up has some stuff I'm not familiar with, but they have some stuff I knew a lot of folks on here would like, you included for sure.

Smollet found guilty, hopefully Jussie doesn't beat himself up over this

It's a good way to organize the system. The issue is that people move, people die, people commit felonies that require they be pulled from voter rolls. Some of those bar codes will be out there, assigned to people who are no longer a legal voter. That's what happens with the voter rolls now...

The answer lies with maintaining better control over the voter rolls, although I think that sounds like an easier thing than it is. I'm not saying the electronic idea doesn't have merit, but now I'm pointing to a bar coded vote in a database instead of a ballot. I'm not sure that gets anyone...

That sounds like a reasonable solution to my concern about vote buying or voter intimidation. I'm not sure if that solves the problem of things happening behind the scenes though. How is that record by voter ID somehow different than a paper ballot that some folks doubt right now?

There are legitimate concerns with having another individual's vote be part of public record. That allows for different kinds of voter fraud/intimidation - namely purchasing or coercing votes. I'm not opposed to trying to make things more secure, but that route appears to have some troubles of...

so pretty proud but amazed at this

Good shooting from nvEER's sons. And your PETA comment reminded me of a headline I saw that PETA wants the MLB to change the term "bull pen" to "arm barn".

    Electric cars lol

The one closest to me is a Supercharger (level 3 which takes about 15 minutes to fully charge). I think Tesla calls the 45-minute ones "Destination Chargers".

They have a set of about eight 2 miles from my house at a gas station. That's not necessarily representative of the rest of the country.

I went to Tesla's site, and they have a trip planning tool. I had it plan a trip from Charleston, SC to Colorado Springs, CO. They claim that's a 35 hour trip including nearly 6 hours of charging time spread out over 17 different stations. The longest charging time was 45 minutes in Goodland, KS.

Agreed. They are great for a home owner with enough garage space for charging. Lord forbid someone live in an apartment or in a house with no off-street parking. That makes the home charging a pain. You can argue that those folks could simply go to the local charging station, although that...

For a large part, DIY vehicle repair is a thing of the past in many ways. The EV argument is that you have much less regular maintenance, so meantime between repairs is longer. That results in lower operating costs after purchase. I don't have data to back that up, so take it with a grain of...

    Electric cars lol

I pulled up a map on Tesla, and they were driving a Tesla. It seems possible to go make that trip using only Level 3 (Super Chargers). They do get a little more sparse as you head through Kansas (or whatever path you choose to get across the plains). I did ask if it was difficult to make it...

    Electric cars lol

I worked with someone who did a family road trip from Charleston, SC to Colorado Springs, CO in their new Tesla. I asked about the process, and they said it was not much different than driving a regular car. The stops were every couple of hundred miles, they planned them out, and the fast...
