It’s so bad, Chico Ruiz was just announced as pinch hitting for the Rays.

At the half way point of the marathon, idle thoughts. 1- Mattingly might be the team MVP at the half way point. I would never say that Topper lost the room, but I think it was comfortable for the players. After the change, Mattingly told them that they were the reason for Topper’s firing and...

Hard to say given the small sample size. Obviously, everyone who attended the breakout game on Saturday was focused on Wood. There was a lot of chatter that he could be like Kerkering and rocket through the system and maybe make the big club at some point this season. Just watching him solely...

A couple of additional randoms- 1- I am intrigued by Nori. My friend goes to the Arizona Fall League every year and he was sending me notes about him. He’s more stout than I imagined considering how fast he is. He can flat out fly. Where he figures in down the road in a couple years will be...

Spring Training Wrap- As we put a bow on Spring Training 2026, random thoughts- Given the WBC, there were so many moving pieces that it’s hard to really get a read. There are so many “if’s” this year. What can go right? The offense adopts most of what K Long has preached. They worked with...

Random thoughts as we hit the half way point- The Good - 1- Stott has been exceptional. A lot of chatter about him changing his stance (all spread no stride only with 2 strikes) and focus on hitting to the whole field. Stott said that he focused too much on hitting the other way and let too...

A thunderbolt is talk about Trea, Bryce, and Kyle as 1-3 in the lineup. Looks like Topper is doing everything to protect Harper more. But Kyle will have Bohm behind him which is huge. I’ll give it until May 1st before everyone starts asking what is wrong with Schwarber. To me, it’s huge if...

They had live BP on the big field this AM. Luzardo was throwing it past people which I’m not sure is good or bad. But between Nola, Painter, and Luzardo, Luzardo was impressive.

    RIP Mickey Lolich

The Cardinals and BoSox had a great Series in 67. In 68, the Cardinals returned and faced the Tigers. Roger Maris was on that Cardinals roster and Maris told his teammates that the pitcher they had to focus on was Lolich (and not McLain who won 31). Lolich won 3, was magnificent, and was MVP...

    OFFICIAL ‘26 Winter Olympics Thread

I still enjoy the Olympics and watching events that I don’t think about again for 4 years. Especially XC skiing (those guys are aerobic machines) and whatever it’s called where they ski and target shoot. The hockey has been spectacular, both men and women. Perfect timing so something keeps me...

They didn’t run it back, they got worse. 1- They lost a mainstay in Ranger, a pitcher who at various times in certain seasons was their best pitcher. They let a potential impact pitcher sign in Houston for a contract that was extremely reasonable. 2- They made the call to move on from Nick...
