Huggs has done more at WVU than what Beilein did. Both are great coaches. Put Huggs at Michigan and he would be winning the same as Beilein. WV is a tough place to recruit. Both are damn good coaches. Only difference is Bob wants to be here.
That's the story on Carter.... Knapper had struggles in HS just like he is now....McCabe was a flashy player which is a far cry from being tough nosed, Bolden plays park ball half the time and all 3 are under sized. Not sure why anyone is surprised we are having struggles at the point...
One major weakness is what's hurting this team.....a steady handed leader who can get a basket. When the pressure ticks up and things go south no one has proven capable of righting the ship. It turns helter skelter on the floor and we aren't able to pull out of it. I love Bob but it's a crime...
Not much creativity in the NFL....every team has great players making most games a grind. In college a few really skilled guys can turn what should have been a blowout into a nail biter. Makes it interesting for sure.
Ideally you find them in high school or get guys like Will or Jack who can play multiple years after transfer. If you do a good job in recruiting most starters only play 2 or 3 years anyway. 4 year guys like Pat are hard to find. Looking at the roster this might be a year to consider a one...
I've heard Don speak in person and on his how and it appeared he spent a little more time speaking with Dana over the past few years. I agree that he never seemed impressed with "the product". Love listening to Don on Sportsline on Monday's during the season. He would discuss how he would run...
It's not a mentality...it's truth. I can guarantee over the past few months Lyons and his team gauged interest in all coaches. No "big" names showed interest so they looked at the G5 and likely coordinators to see who they could get. Not a lot of top flight P5 coaches looking to make a move...
In this day and age you can't worry about guys moving because that's what they do. With the money being tossed around it's only a minor obstacle in most cases. I would rather not be tied to this guy like we were Dana. All signs point to it being a good hire but until they play the games no...
This is the biggest disconnect with some of our fans....usually the casual fan sadly not always. You have to understand who you can realistically get. Matt Campbell isn't going anywhere for a few years and when he does it's NFL or a select few blue bloods. He declined to interview with the...
Lyons is smart to listen to Gee but needs to do what will help him fulfill his vision for the program. That's what he is hired to do. I agree that Dana had done all he could do. It was bumpy at times but in the end he grew as a coach and guided the program back to a competitive league. Now...
Recruiting to WV is going to be the biggest concern with these coaches and what staff they bring in....gotta build off the backs of 3 star kids who they can develop mixed with some high end talent. If any of them think they are going to land a bunch of top 15 classes then they will never work...
