    Speaking of Ono, he was there for the event and slipped into a seat a few rows in front of us sometime during the second round. Many photos and autographs ensued.

    I don't think it was mentioned, but Spencer Lee looked dazed after the second match - walked to the wrong corner and almost walked off the raised mat area. Then he collapsed onto the mat and it took a while to get him back to his feet. Scary.

    It was probably the most sedate crowd I've been in at Final X events. Had something to do with the constant loud music and screaming announcers. Shite atmosphere. Still glad we went but thinking about passing on future ones.

    The only part that didn't have me shaking my head was the part about the lack of a women's wrestling program. It's ludicrous that PSU doesn't have one.

    Lovely 45 minute drive to West Point for us vs a 3 hour slog to SC on I80. One of my favorite wrestling days of the year - great watching the non-starters compete.

    My old hometown is doing a Juneteenth celebration at Monument Park - a park that honors Civil War Union Army soldiers who were encamped in the part of town where I grew up. I like that choice.

    I wish I had a 1973 District 3 t-shirt - 'cause District 3 had 7 finalists and 7 consolation finalists (out of 48 wrestlers). At least that's my recollection.
