    OT: Newark airport

We are flying to Iceland and doing a couple days around Reykjavik and then getting on cruise up to Svalbard and then down the Norway fjords to Copenhagen. Packing is going to be a *****….

    OT: Newark airport

We are headed out to Iceland at the end of this month from EWR. It is a late night flight, so hoping that will help us. Sounds like the runway issues should be resolved before your July flight.

OT: Grounds for Sculpture and Hindu Temple

funny how things work. I had never even heard of this place until this thread and then my kids went there on Sat out of the blue.

OT: Duke Farms Eagle is back

Pretty much, except they don't just steal the food from your hands, they take the hands as well..... :)

OT: Your stories of a brush with famous people.

Kirstie Alley crashed my daughter's Bat Mitzvah. She was staying in same hotel and wanted to record some dancing for some social media thing she was doing(she asked first). Very gracious and hung out talking with people and taking pictures for a good 45 min.

Bald eagles in Alaska are like pigeons in NYC or seagulls in Ocean City.

OT: Plane and helicopter collide in DC

Disclaimer I am not an expert here..... But the transponder exists for reporting position information out to air traffic control. So rather than relying on a radar to tell them (ATC) where aircraft are, the aircraft broadcast their exact position(as well as other status data). As an FYI, the...

OT: Plane and helicopter collide in DC

Military aircraft turn off these ADS-B transponders on a regular basis. The ADS-B signal can apparently be picked up by anyone with the right equipment and is the basis of the various flight tracking websites out there. So obviously having the transponders on for military aircraft all the...

OT: Plane and helicopter collide in DC

Unwarranted accusations definitely go both ways. However, the thing about institutional racism or sexism is that it often happens unintentionally. When the hiring decisions are being made by a bunch of white men and they are asked to choose between several candidates that are equally...

OT: Plane and helicopter collide in DC

When the organizational leadership comes out and say the person had typical/good performance reports, people will say they were faked or "held to different standard" or that the leadership is lying to cover up their stealth DEI program. It is the perfect "conspiracy theory" scenario. To...

OT: Plane and helicopter collide in DC

I agree, and how do you determine whether someone got preference? My point of all this is raising DEI(and someone being hire/whatever over better qualified peers due to it) everytime a non white male is involved in something is ridiculous, but suits those who are trying to make point quite...

OT: Plane and helicopter collide in DC

The problem here is how quantifiable the definition of qualified is. In most cases qualification is a combination of factors, some quantifiable and some not(think about hiring/promotion decisions, there is no purely analytical process for hiring someone). Now the military tends be be more...

    Most definitely a tragic situation.

OT: Plane and helicopter collide in DC

Zap, From what I have seen this wasn't necessarily a training flight, but a transport flight. The callsign used by the Blackhawk was PAT25 and PAT stands for Priority Air Transport which refers to military VIP flights by the 12th aviation battalion out of Ft Belvior. I believe the flight...
