Corrrct. Carmel cancelled due to COVID. Libertyville was unable to find an opponent in IL/WI/IN/MI according to the AD in an email to parents. Crappy way to start 1-0.
"I wonder why no one has returned a kickoff out of the end zone today?" Instant classic from Hub. Rules Matter...
I also loved him backtracking moments after his critique of the LZ kicker...my guess is the producer whispered in his ear to remind him he's not calling a Bears or UM game...
Coach Sigmund is a class act. I met him while working chains for the Elk Grove @ Libertyville home opener in 2015. During pregame, Coach Sig introduced himself to our crew and entertained us throughout the game with witty comments.
His Grenadiers were highly motivated but over-matched...
"We hold these truths to be self-evident"
If you're married to the zone-read offense, it might be a good idea to develop dual-threat QBs.
Given the shrinking talent pool at some suburban programs, multi-dimensional athletes who fit this mold are becoming harder to find.
In the face of this...
Overjoyed to see the Corps of Cadets take the field to celebrate the end of a 14 game losing streak!
For all who appreciate this purest example of a sports rivalry, I recommend "A Civil War" by John Feinstein...
Hat's off from this Libertyville supporter to a great CG program! As a fan of line play and power football, was looking forward to potential CG/PR matchup next week. Thus begins year 1 of the A.P. (After Pennington) Era. Reminds me of Major Ogilvie's 6 year career at 'Bama!
Thanks for the summary. I attended the round 1 Libertyville @ BB matchup and wondered about PN's winning formula. BB's defense was susceptible to the run but had strong skill players on both sides of ball. Am surprised to hear of PN's success through the air. I'm glad for PN's win because of...
So in your world it's OK for a good 5-4 team to miss out in favor of a public league team with a gaudy record due to a crappy schedule? We see this every year...
AMEN! How much longer are we going to endure IHSAs antiquated playoff format? Go to an 8 game regular season schedule and everyone qualifies for the playoffs as in other IHSA sports. Early round travel is minimized, and most importantly, ALL the kids get to experience playoff football excitement!
We have the same road uniform problem at the 'Ville. Parents joked last season that uniforms rendered our players invisible in the Bourbonnais snow bowl. Makes film study very difficult...
CG is a fine program but consider the opponent. I wasn't at the game...but the lopsided score seems to indicate that Seaburg kept his foot on the gas a bit too long?
