Anyone else feel like the atmosphere at the Hump has been killed?

It would not be out of the question for Dr. Flick to do that. It happened before at a much-less publicized event. Would he come back? I don't know. I do know he is a great professor; few were as entertaining as him. Loved having him as an adviser as well.

    Ellis Johnson news...

No demotion at SC. You know how Mississippi has the archaic law that says no state employee can have a contract over four years? There are laws like that in South Carolina that limits how long of a contract can run for certain employees.

    Another coaching rumor

Tommy Bowden gets talent, lots more than Croom ever did. And he won 8-9 games every year at a place that expected a conference title every three years and a possible national title run every 10. That's why he's out. I'm not hearing anyone on this board expecting more than 8 wins a year. While...

    I have a question

That's why I tell you our facilities aren't that great. The indoor facility is the newest, but many others are still better. As for the city of Starkville and the surrounding area, I never had a complaint about it in school, being from rural MS. But now that I've been out and lived in bigger...

    Ellis Johnson/Mark Hudspeth

An article in the last month in The State (South Carolina's state paper) had all kinds of quotes from Ellis and his wife about finally being home. I doubt he leaves the Gamecocks without Spurrier pushing him out, which ain't happening anytime soon.

    I have a question

Nice facilities? Maybe 8th-10th in the SEC, which is still the top half in the BCS schools in the country, but not amazing. State's finally catching up with the new academic center, etc. Largest enrollment in the state still ranks 10th in the SEC, above only UM and Vandy. Fertile recruiting...

In what order would you fire the staff?

On their way off the bus? Why let them get on? Just let Everett leave them there.

    All-Star game buy/sell

Treat it like a regular game with small exceptions, kind of like Clint Hurdle did. Don't feel obligated to get everyone in the game, and let the starting pitchers pitch two innings each. And if a pitcher is selected but started on Sunday, then let them come for the honor but fill their spot with...

HR Derby tonight. Who ya got?

Well, as long as his pitcher can put it over the plate. He won't have them fall short in that cavern, seeing that he plays in one that's almost as bad for right-handed hitters.

Shake up in the athletic dept

Those job descriptions both specifically reference media guides, game programs and notes, not posters, schedule cards, ect. Again, the latter are marketing items, things made for fans. And with the game programs, usually the media contact is responsible for information like rosters, lineups and...

Shake up in the athletic dept

As Scooba said, if you're complaining about promotion, then blame marketing, not media relations. Marketing puts out the posters and schedule cards and advertisements trying to get you to buy tickets, etc. Has men's basketball garnered some national attention, had some national stories written...

Shake up in the athletic dept

What has been the problem in media relations over the past 10 years, in your opinion? I've always heard they are one of the better run offices in the league.

    What would you rather watch?

Softball gets better ratings on ESPN than college baseball has. Don't remember where I heard that, but it's gotta be true, because ESPN wouldn't show it over some of their other properties if it wasn't.
