SIAP: Steve Pederson wanted Mike Sherman?

That's sad that they thought Wannstedt was a big fish. I never believed Houston Nutt got cold feet. I think he and Broyles just used Nebraska to get Nutt a raise.

SIAP: Steve Pederson wanted Mike Sherman?

At some later on, Perlman said they had a big name coach ready to go and he got cold feet and left them scrambling. The way Perlman described it implied the name was bigger than someone like Sherman or Wannstedt and the fans would all be excited. Any guesses who it was? I'm wondering if it was...

It seems to me that we have an overabundance of Huskers podcasts, X feeds, YouTube channels, etc to overanalyze every minute detail of Husker football.

    Welcome to Nebraska, Jacory

He'll eventually learn to do the penguin walk across campus like the rest of the students.

    We got our QB's coach!!

I remember there were some grumbling when Dvoracek and Knighton were hired due to their lack of experience. They turned out to be some of Rhule's best hires so far. There are some rumors floating around that the staff thinks Dvoracek will be a DC sooner rather than later.

    We got our QB's coach!!

Yep. It's normal to hire guys you've worked with before. The trick is to filter out the ones that are past their prime, in over their heads, or just not very good.

    We got our QB's coach!!

It seems to me like this move also helps Satterfield focus on gameday play calling while Thomas can work with the young QB's. I'd bet Satterfield is in the booth and Thomas is on the sideline for gamedays.

    Happy Days

I recommend watching Henry Winkler on the Max show Barry. The whole show is fantastic.

Portal guys with years of production, even at lower levels, tend to be solid contributors or even difference makers for us.

    Kalen to Bama. Done deal

That's what I was saying last night. There are several potential landmines with this job. Try coaching with a legend over your shoulder. DeBoer is a great coach, but he'll be out after a few years if he doesn't win at a high percentage.

    Kalen to Bama. Done deal

That's true. Guys like Harsin and Petrino are the cautionary tales though. Outsiders get a shorter grace period to start winning. DeBoer needs to keep his nose clean and use the Rhule playbook to hit the ground running. Go around the state. Meet lots of people. Show that you want to be there.

    Kalen to Bama. Done deal

Not an out of touch angry boomer like you, just someone that's lived in the South. DeBoer is a great coach and he might do well there, but he will face a bigger learning curve (just like Saban did when he started) than other guys like Sarkisian and Norvell. Nothing stupid about that take. It's...

    Kalen to Bama. Done deal

Nice to meet you too. I disagree Harsin was a Boise native and spent most of his time coaching in the Pacific Northwest. Several players spoke out against him at Auburn. He didn't even make it two years there. DeBoer has more cred, but it takes some work to develop connections with local high...

    Kalen to Bama. Done deal

The last time an Alabama school hired a Pacific Northwest guy, Auburn ended up with Bryan Harsin. Hopefully, this works out better for Bama. Harsin was the worst culture fit hire I've seen since Bill Callahan.
