If a 24-Team CFP had existed from the very beginning (2014)

Great point. And for a team like Iowa that gets better as the year goes on, it rewards teams playing the best ball late in the year that have improved (developed) through the year and/or overcame a key injury that might have caused a loss or two.

KF says this new rule is nonsense

I honestly don’t know if this is or is not a good change….BUT… my general perception of the NCAA is they are great at coming up with solutions in need of a problem rather than addressing anything that actually needs fixing. Oh, and they’re also super good at punishing teams for meaningless...

If a 24-Team CFP had existed from the very beginning (2014)

In your analogy, a #24 knocking off a #1 would be the equivalent to a 16 seed beating a 1 seed in the ncaa basketball tourney. I actually think there’s a better chance of a football 24 beating a 1 seed than a 16 seed beating a 1 seed in March madness. It’s only happened 2 out of 164 times. I...

OT: Hawk Baseball finishes strong in Des Moines; I went to Thursday's game and it was great; Alivo can sling it

Great call/post! Heller doing a great job. What I seemed to notice this year is a lack of a dominant #1 starter. Against the top teams, the hawks seemed to really struggle in game one and then go toe to toe pretty well in games 2 and 3 (ucla aside!). But I think if they can keep the staff...

If a 24-Team CFP had existed from the very beginning (2014)

I hate the espn pundits that complain about “only the top 4 or so schools have a chance to win it all and therefore we should not be having this many teams in the playoff.” Besides just spouting off what big money wants them to say, they are also completely missing the point that this type of...

IOWA ($180.0M) #28 in Total Revenue for Fiscal Year 2025. Clown U ($103.9M) is #68. IOWA is #3 in Net Rev Surplus ($29.1M), after Texas & Notre Dame

#28 is pretty good, but there are a few teams behind Iowa that will move up (Washington, Oregon, possibly others). Candidly going to to be a dogfight to stay in the top 30 imo. And that’s a huge gap between the top 10 and where we currently sit.

Anyone worried about the LB situation?

Add me to the “more concerned about the DL” club.

IOWA got betw. $76M & $80M from the B1G for the 2024-25 fiscal year. SEC schools received $72.4M on average

Interesting, thank you. Is that $20.5 mil for football or does that include all sports? Honestly I’m glad to know there’s at least some rules around NIL - albeit WAY too few. At least it’s a start. Regardless, it’s definitely a nice chunk, and certainly benefits schools that can cover...

13 minute Ben McCollum interview. LOTS of good stuff including how he plans on replacing Stirtz at PG

Totally didn’t mean it to be a shot to anyone. Even outside of Fran, a good comparison would be KF. As another poster noted above, lots of similarities between Ben and KF in terms of culture building, etc. But compared to KF, Ben is an open book. KF is great at coach speak and you can...

13 minute Ben McCollum interview. LOTS of good stuff including how he plans on replacing Stirtz at PG

Said it before, but man, how great is it to have a coach that is so thoughtful, respectful, professional, confident yet humble, and so willing to share his perspective. Love listening to him.

    owen freeman

Maybe the plan is that will allow him to not play any defense…aka, his usual game!

    *****Alvaro Folgueiras enters the Portal*****

Is there anyway to know (reliably) what he ended up nabbing for a $$$ deal with Louisville?

    Comical from CBS sports

Wow, nice call… just looked up his stats. 65 catches in 9 games and was a very consistent producer in every single game. Last game was vs Clemson and had 6 catches for 36 yards and 2 rushes for 18. Not mind blowing stats but clearly a go-to guy for them and didn’t shy away in a big-boy game...

Luka Garza signs with the Celtics

Just as impressive as the offense stats…. Orlando’s starting BIGS went a combine 14-45 FGs. Not sure which Garza was primarily guarding but all three (including Paulo Banchero) had poor shooting nights and Garzas +\- was +13. Gotta give him some credit on D too!

A guy with a Tigerhawk cap in the gallery at the Masters

Maybe it’s different for a pro, but I can shank my 3 wood just as often as any other club. As long as there’s no water in play, I’d say grip it and rip it. If you’re in the trees, better to be in the trees and closer to the green that in the trees and further away with a shanked 3 wood...
