    OT: MS Financial Advisors

OP, I think when most people in this thread are saying "Fee Only," they mean you would pay the financial advisor an hourly rate for his time. If you are nervous about retirement, it may be worth buying a few hours of a FA's time. Paying a % of assets under management (which is the model of...

    OT: Best BBQ in Mississippi?

Can confirm C.H.O.P. is very good. I'll also plug Abe's in Clarksdale -- its the BBQ I grew up eating.

Best burger in Jackson and surrounding areas

I don't get down that way much anymore, but worked in downtown Jackson circa 2009-10. CS's and Stamps are great. Also remember Cool Al's having a great burger, but looks like they have shut down.

    OT: Moving to Tupelo/Amory

I'll chime in -- I (Delta native) have been in Tupelo for 13 years and love it. We have been extremely satisfied with the Tupelo Public School system (Kids are 10 and 12). Its a huge school district with all kinds of opportunities. If your friend wants to go the private school route, TCPS is...

    PSA...... Refrigerators

Just to throw out more complaining ... We bought a new Whirlpool from Home Depot the first week in August. About 10 days later, we noticed that it wasn't cooling/freezing. Home Depot tells us it a manufacturer warranty issue -- Contact Whirlpool and its a 2 week wait for a technician to...

OT - Scary, suspenseful or Horror movies

"Hereditary" was one of the best modern horror films I've seen in the last few years. I'll also second Hellhouse LLC... its a low-budget "found footage" type film but really well done.

Hike Lands End I would recommend taking 1/2 a day and hiking Lands End Park in San Francisco. Incredible views of the bay.

Owners of battery operated weed trimmers talk to me...

I picked up a DeWalt 20v string trimmer this spring and have been very pleased. But like others said, go with whatever battery platform you use.

OT; World War II Reading Material

I'm a big fan of Antony Beevor's works -- The Second World War Stalingrad: The Fateful Siege The Fall of Berlin: 1945 All great and highly recommended. I've reread Stalingrad at least a half dozen times. Edit: Skimmed too quickly and this really doesn't pertain to your question, but...

OT: Buying a house with a pool

We bought a house with a pool last year. Maintenance has actually been pretty easy (get a Polaris pool cleaning robot). However, running the pump 24/7 adds $100+ to your electric bill.

New book suggestions for Deer Stand reading.

Tapcode Tapcode: The Epic Tale of a Vietnam POW and the Secret Code that Changed Everything. This is a biographical account of long-time Tupelo resident Captain Smitty Harris' experience as a POW for 8 years in North Vietnam after being shot down. Great read.
