    I am in the upper left of that photo. I remember texting people back at home asking what the hell was going on. We were all waiting for the call to obviously be overturned and it held up. I knew then that despite the awesome grass it was not a level field that night.

    All they had to do was look at the replay board in the stadium which clearly showed the ball hitting the ground. But based on the fact that they couldn't locate the play clock display they may not have known where the giant replay board was either.

    Maybe his car running out of gas (assuming that part is actually true) saved some other lives. Gil Brandt was destroyed for his comments being tone deaf, but he might have been pretty accurate even though the number-retiring fanbase didn't want to hear it.
