    2026 - 27 Premier League thread

Got to roll eyes at the ridiculous punditry (including from the Prem YTbers and a big chunk of Spurs fans). Another relegation battle, a disastrous transfer window, fire RDZ, etc - after just 3 league games. RDZ runs a complicated scheme, so it takes some time for players to pick it up...

Northwestern opens Chip Kelly era with 34-18 win over FCS power SDSU

Totally refreshing to see the Cats let it loose on the 1st drive...

How lucky did we get with the early bye?

Normally, far from an ideal situation, but if you're going to have a bye this early, mind as well do it when players are still getting used to a new scheme (on top of hopefully getting some injured players back).

The Good, The Bad, and The Beautiful

This FCS team likely has the talent in its starters (as well as in coaching) to be a fairly competitive P4 team; problem is depth which shouldn't be an issue this early in the season (in 2022, played Iowa tough, losing 7-3). A lot of pre-season predictions for the Cats had SDSU as a win and MSU...

    Latest Franklin shot towards PSU

Started earlier than that. Vandy canceled its series (via snail mail) against NU since BGJ kept losing (despite NU having fewer resources and tougher academic standards for recruits). And that was against Pat, who is also an offensively-challenged HC, mediocre game manager, etc.

    OT: Lucille Ball

There definitely are numerous classic eps of ILL. While Desi was a serial cheater, he helped pioneer multiple camera taping (paving the way for syndication reruns) with a live audience and smartly retained the rights to the film. Together, they started Desilu Productions, the 2nd largest...

    CBS Sports B1G Predictions

But the Cats are predominantly playing B1G teams. Cats have some decent talent on both sides of the ball (hopefully the transfers more than adequately fill in the holes from the departures). Still, health will be key due to the lack of depth at certain positions. As an aside, it's annoying to...

    Cowherd

Was listening to The Herd the other day and was pleasantly surprised when Colin spoke semi-in-length of Northwestern. Said that he had walked the campus with his son (loved it) and that he was going to meet up with MJ and also tour the new Ryan Field. Wonder if this means that Cowherd will...

    CBS Sports B1G Predictions

Most prognosticators/analysts only have a superficial knowledge of the conference as a whole, and that especially holds true specifIcally regarding the Cats. Defense should remain steady and the O should be improved, in large part by a better scheme/playcalling (putting players in a better...

2026 World Cup - USA team thread

Not weird at all; they've been preparing for days not expecting to face Balogun; now, they only have a day to change course (it would have been another matter if FIFA had made their decision of a "suspension" within 24th hrs of the game ending). What makes this galling is that it appears FIFA...
