Entergy Bill - did anyone's electric bill jump a lot this month?

Highest it's ever been in a little over 4 years at the current house. Wifey blamed it on me leaving the front doors partially open when I was re-finishing them.

OT: I Got Out of A Speeding Ticket!

A few years back, the MHP let me out of one between Calhoun City & Gunader (73 in a 55) because I told him I hadn't seen my girlfriend in 3 weeks :) Maybe he could tell I was being honest.

Anyone got any other data to back this up or refute it?

I did my part & declared my residency in 2025. Mainly because I didn't want MeeMaw (AL Gov Ivey) to get any tax money from 401k withdrawals. Still working in AL part time though.

College Football Media is gathered in Pittsboro

Best of recollection, Judge Lackey who hails from Calhoun County was the one that turned Dickie Scruggs in for attempted bribery. (Pittsboro is the county seat of Calhoun)

OT: What was your hourly pay at the first W2 job you held?

Think it was $5.12 as a federal gov't co-op back in 1983. Think I was a GS-3. At that time, the gov't was well behind industry starting out but you could usually catch up in a few years.

    Poll: Where do you live?

I guess 'Gunader' is NW non-Delta. Live out of state about 40% of the time though.

OT: Interesting graphic on the economy

That's my cuz. He comes from a long line of sweet tater farmers, but I think he's the last one unfortunately.

    I can't focus at work....

Unfortunately I share a cube with my UT customer :) But that's an upgrade from the AL fan I worked with for over 30 years. Nah, they're both good guys & don't give me too hard of a time.

    OT: MS Financial Advisors

Thanks for all the replies. Going to talk to a guy in Huntsville next month. Also have a guy in Grenada (MSU grad) that works for Raymond James. I might just end up trying to manage it myself. If I can just make a few % each year I ought to be able to make do until the Lord calls me home.

    OT: MS Financial Advisors

Going to talk to a guy in Hsv next month. And I've got a good MSU grad in Gunader that I've talked to once that works for Raymond James.

    OT: MS Financial Advisors

Cris Wallace with WG Financial. One of my co-workers is using them. Another co-worker likes Keel Point. I'm not really adverse to having one here, but I'd rather have one closer to Grenada. I met one fine MSU grad there that works for Raymond James, & I might end up using him. Just exploring my...

    OT: MS Financial Advisors

Getting ready to cut back at work & hopefully retire in the next 3 years or so. Just curious if the pack thinks it's worth hiring a financial advisor & if so who you would recommend in North or Central MS (retiring in Grenada area). I work in Huntsville & am pretty impressed with one of the...

    Happy New Year SPS

Congrats. Hope to do the same soon. And I hereby declare myself an official resident of the great state of MS again (after > 35 years of exile). Going to start pulling a little out of my retirement & don't want MeeMaw (AL Gov Kay Ivey) getting any. So I moved my vehicles, driver's license...

    OT: Mississippi 529 Plans

Their uncle (wife's brother) did that or at least he did for law school. He's still in the Guard. I'll talk to him about it. Thanks.

    OT: Mississippi 529 Plans

Thanks guys. These are my step kids & I think they will both go to college. The oldest is already taking all of her classes from JUCO as a HS junior. Based on the comments, I think I'll just start looking at taxable accounts. Wife just had a little money sitting in a CD that she wants to use for...
