Baseball Mickey Gilligan turns down MLB, opts to play for Rutgers Baseball

He wasn’t drafted. I assume he talked to MLB teams pre draft who indicated where they might pick him and what bonus amount they would give him. He probably indicated he wouldn’t sign for that amount, hence teams didn’t waste a draft pick on him.

New Jersey’s 99 greatest soccer players of all-time, ranked

Played with George Rada who was considered the top high school player at that time for Thomas Jefferson in 1959. He was from Hungry and would take the ball from one end of the field to the other. He along with his scoring partner, Joe Fiorillo, led Jeff to the group 4 state championship with a...

    Rutgers Baseball

I think every lineup is different game to game. He’ll move players from the top of the lineup to the bottom. I don’t think that helps a player’s confidence when they are shuffled around the lineup. I know Bonds has been injured, not sure if anyone else is. Looks like Wells missed a few games...

    OT: Bill Mazeroski dead

You’re right about it being a ground ball to Nelson. I was a Pirate fan then. Was a Yankee fan but after they won 5 series in a row (49-53), I decided to root for the worst team in baseball which was the Pirates at that time.

Bill Virden hit that ground ball to Kubek. Mantle diving back to first base on a liner avoided a double play.

    OT: RIP Elroy Face

Correct. I also listened to the game. Became a Pirate fan after the Yankees won 5 World Series in a row (1949-1953). Decided to root for the worst team in baseball which was the Pirates at the time. Could only get the games at night on my AM radio. Bob Prince was the first announcer who was...

    Cignetti’s formula won’t last

I believe that he not only did not win in that season but came in third.
