Greatest Westerns where the leading actor never got his due, nor, did the movie.

Super picks by everyone. Another great one which might have been mentioned: She Wore A Yellow Ribbon. The best of John Ford's famous cavalry trilogy starring The Duke in one of his legendary roles. A couple enduring scenes from that flick: Wayne's troop leaves the fort with a couple chicks...

Couldn't find the final shoot-out from Culpepper but linked below, to give a flavor for the flick, is a confrontation in a bar between the company and a bunch of horse rustlers. The whole movie is a hidden gem:

Can't believe I forgot this one: The Culpepper Cattle Company...1972 Young kid grows up quickly when he's taken on as a cook's assistant on a cattle drive. Low-budget great Western. The shoot-out scene near the end is dynamite. Also, in the same vein as kids growing up, maybe somebody...

I mean, if we're ditching "underappreciated" and just going for greatest Westerns ever, eezy-peezy...top-5, in no particular order: Shane, The Searchers, Red River, Once Upon A Time In The West, and The Good The Bad And The Ugly...

Greatest Westerns where the leading actor never got his due, nor, did the movie.

Forgot one: Last Train From Gun Hill with Kirk Douglas and Anthony Quinn. Kirk is a sheriff whose wife, an Indian woman, is raped and murdered by the son (and his friends) of powerful rancher Anthony Quinn who lives in Gun Hill, down the road a good bit, and happens to be an old compadre of...

Ulzana's Raid with Burt Lancaster; Valdez Is Coming with Burt Lancaster; Johnny Guitar with...I forget who...I think Joan Crawford was in it. All of these are lesser known but great Westerns.

Haha! No worries on that score, buddy. I wish there were more Steps on message boards; the discourse (mine too) would be a lot more intelligent and civil. As for what happened on the other board, a mistake was made and then corrected. You have to respect that because these days people in...

Dear Lord. It was a literary device: exaggeration to the point of self-mockery. But the dim-witted hyenas took it literally.

To quote the main character from Darby O'Gill and the Little People, one of the great movies of all time: Hoo Hoo...Hullabaloo...Haha! I mean, seriously, your post above ranks as one of the purest collections of BS ever packed into a single paragraph.
