3StepSports, the largest youth sports operator, just hired Goldman Sachs

Keeping with the travel ball theme... Just let me know if you are in need of some baseball to watch and we'll get you added as a family member on GameChanger for my kids baseball games. I mean it's pretty dang entertaining at times... We have had 3 innings go for 20 runs against us. I accused...

I think one of the benefits of all this shakeout could be the growth of club sports. So many kids that are marginal high school go to silly d3 colleges for sports. I'd much rather my kid go to a real school and play a club sport than play at Kansas Polytechnic - Stubbville where the best majors...

    PSA Travel Ball

Speak for yourself pal. I went D-1 in woodworking at the finest Forest Products school and upholstered furniture laboratory in the country. I placed 7th in the country as a sophomore in wood identification and the other 6 fellers were all upperclassmen. I know what it takes to turn a boy into a...

Yep. I think IMG is the best of the best for sure. These academies are trading off that name/model, but what they are really doing is suckering parents into believing their kid is at the IMG level and taking as much money as the can from them. Look into Grind Academy in Las Vegas... It's an...

I think it's peaking for sure. People are starting to figure out that the American model is broken. The European/Dominican model is better. Train a lot and play a little. Academies are popping up everywhere in all kinds of sports. They have been around longest in things like tennis and skiing...

    PSA Travel Ball

I think a lot of people that are frustrated by travel ball (any sport) and don't participate are angry because they feel left out.... Not as in they are missing something, just out in the cold with no option. It's not unreasonable to think that you'd like to have your kid participate in a sport...

    PSA Travel Ball

Does anyone else have a "travel ball" league available? In my neck of the woods we actually refer to it as club baseball as the catch all. You join a "club" or select team and pay $500-$2000 depending on the club, how much they play, etc. The local Cal Ripken leagues have select teams that play...

    Starkville Travel ball coach/umpire embarrassment

The never ending saga of youth sports. I think most people are really just trying to find the best experience for their kids. I think the biggest issue in all of this is that the towns and cities have quit providing the opportunities by defunding parks and rec. So many fields are now private...

Both socks first or one foot at a time?

I just bought my first pair of sketchers. They are Hoja looking running shoes, but the slip on that can still be tied. Holy shít. They are comfortable as 17. Now I guess I have to break down and buy the undies that tuck my balls into a sewed in sock that @CochiseCowbell keeps swearing by.
