What do we think of Landon Powell for head coach?

Absolutely not. No. You do not hire a D2 coach for his first D1 job as an SEC head coach. He might get there eventually and be great (or he might enjoy having success where he is without as many distractions at this level). But no, just because he is USC baseball alum, that doesn't mean it will...

RAT TANNER IS DEAD TO ME!

They're hand in hand responsibilities. Agree that extending contracts are something that most schools screw up but they sort of have to. You can't have a coach under contract for less than four years or else other coaches will use that against you in recruiting. That being said, remember, the...

RAT TANNER IS DEAD TO ME!

I understand the frustration, but I actually think he doesn't get enough credit for what he did. 1) Until COVID, the USC Athletics Dept. was one of about a dozen in the country that actually operated in the black. 2) He kept Dawn Staley from taking the Ohio State Job. 3) Not every coaching hire...

STOP GOING TO BASKETBALL & BASEBALL GAMES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nope. I still go to baseball games to cheer for my team regardless. Enough season tickets are sold every year to business and such, it doesn't matter if a few individuals or walk-up ticket buyers boycott.

    Lamont Paris buyout $9M

Board of Trustees needs some blame here, too. They approve all contact extensions and hirings made by the A.D. If the BOT had any balls, they wouldn't have approved some of these.

    Jeremiah "Do Nothing" Donati

I disagree. In fact, I think he's very smart. USC was dead last in the SEC for men's basketball in its NIL budget, so he's looking to add to that to give his coach an opportunity to correct it. If you hire a new coach with the same money, the results will be the same. By the same token, if you...

Who else has read the article

So much to un pack here: 1) IF all in the story is true, yes, it's very disturbing. Whittle is a respected baseball writer, and Mainieri is a respected coach. It is very odd that nothing like this came out before in previous stops about Mainieri, which also makes you wonder how much is accurate...

    Statue worthy

Yeah, no. He seems like a good kid and he's been a very good player but no where near statue-worthy. That's for national player of the year type folks. You don't "cheapen" it by doing so with someone like CMB. Aliyah Boston needs a statue - national player of the year with as many if not more...

    Dear Lamont

    1) Lamont is not going anywhere. He'll be here next year and should be here next year. Good coach, bad year. 2) You honestly don't think the team doesn't have a weight training program? The stupidity on this board never disappoints.

    New WBB rankings

I have not problem with a team dropping when they lose. That's how it works. Texas deserved to move up... they were #4 and beat #2. "Recency" counts for polls - that's why they change every week.

"Hit the road, Lamont" . . . agree or disagree?

    1) He's not going anywhere 2) Disagree. You don't fire a coach in year 3 especially after tying the school record for most wins the year before 3) Obviously the team has been a disappointment. The chemistry just hasn't worked and for whatever reason, nobody has risen up in crunch time. Sometimes...

    WBB—Texas AM

Dawn is NOT killing Fulwiley's progression. She has a special skill set, and a ton of natural ability and will be a star before she graduates.... but many times her defense stinks or she takes possessions off, she sometimes shoots 3s too early in the possession when there is no one in the paint...

    WBB

As noted earlier, SC is really good. There are some teams that may be a little better this year, and that's OK. USC still has enough talent to make a run, they're just not as strong in the post as they've been the last 9-10 years.... teams with really good posts (Like UCLA) will make it tough...

    WBB

USC is really good - 5 games (4 wins) vs Top 15 ranked teams... that being said. UCLA is a much better team that South Carolina this year. They're big and deep in the post and have really good guards. They are likely the team to beat this year. UCONN is up there again as one of the top 3 teams...

USC women beat the nation's #9 team by 33 points on their home court . . .

Another really good team this year for Staley... that being said, UCLA is a much better team this year and not a good matchup for SC.
