    Tips for a golfing newbie

    Must be talking of Buhl Park. Read about it some time ago. When I was growing up in Illinois (same town as Mrs. @LionJim) I used to play at a little 9 hole muni ... for kids under 18 it was free before noon on Monday to Friday. Looks like its gone now.
